FOR-A provides turnkey solution for MAP new OB truck

FOR-A, a cutting-edge video broadcast technology company backed by more than 50 years' experience, has implemented a complete system for Media and Art Production (MAP). The new facility is now online in Dubai Studio City.

MAP is a leading production and post company, based in Dubai, and services the UAE and beyond. It has had a long relationship with FOR-A as technology partner, including a complete flyaway production kit developed for weekly live shows and other sporting events. MAP and FOR-A together have recently re-implemented this equipment into an outside broadcast truck.

The new OB truck gives MAP a strong presence in Dubai. The facility is currently operating in HD, but every element is ready to be upgraded to 4K Ultra HD, using 12G-SDI.

At the heart of the new OB truck is the HVS-1200 production switcher. The unique structure of the HANABI panel and the powerful electronics gives the operator effectively 2 M/E capability in 4K, with powerful functionality across cutting, mixing, wipes and keying on each level. The frame supports 10 inputs/10 outputs in 12G or 40 inputs/10 outputs in HD. MAP’s outside broadcast kit uses the FOR-A HVS-490 production switcher, and HVS-2000 in the studio so operators are familiar with the user interface and how to get the best out of it under the pressure of live productions.

The infrastructure provided by FOR-A also includes the MFR-3100EX all-in-one production center. This multi-functional device can act as a switcher, router, multi-viewer and downstream keyer in one 4RU-sized unit. Other features include PTZ camera control, NDI® support and RTMP/SRT video streaming.

“The turnkey system we built in conjunction with FOR-A proved extremely effective for us: flexible, secure and simple,” said Imad Basil, Managing Director of MAP. “When we decided to build a permanent OB truck in Dubai, it made sense for us to use as much of the same kit as we could, because we know how to get the best out of it, and we know we can count on it.”

Mohammed Abu Ziyadeh, FOR-A Regional Manager for the Middle East and Africa added “MAP has a very strong engineering team, and we are pleased to work with them again to deliver against their requirements. This partnership shows that FOR-A has powerful, practical products, but also the ability to work with other providers to build complete solutions.”
