FOR-A shows production flexibility for entertainment and sports at CABSAT

FOR-A, a cutting-edge video broadcast technology company backed by more than 50 years’ experience, is joining in the celebrations for the 30th anniversary CABSAT exhibition with a display of its powerful and flexible systems. Reflecting the nature of the industry in transition, it will show solutions based on SDI – including 12G for Ultra HD – alongside compressed and uncompressed live video standards.

Typical of the flexibility available today are the HVS-190 and HVS-490 production switchers, each of which offers the ability to add NDI®* connectivity alongside SDI. The HVS-190 is a simple, 1 M/E switcher in a very compact form factor; the HVS-490 uses FOR-A’s exclusive MELite™ technology to extend its 2 M/E banks to 6 M/E performance with up to 12 keyers. Complementing the NDI capabilities, they also include a web server to allow configuration and control from a computer or tablet, at any distance for remote production.

Emphasising the simplicity of building complete, tightly integrated systems, the production switchers will be paired with the MFR-3100EX live routing switcher, which also incorporates director control of a PTZ camera as well as a multi viewer. Providing anything in, anything out video processing, the FA-1616 offers extraordinary power in a 1RU cabinet, supporting as many as 16 channels at resolutions up to 4K, with colour correction and audio remapping.

Sports broadcasting always drives video technology forward, and FOR-A will show CABSAT visitors how simple slow-motion replay can be with the Envivo server with an intuitive touchscreen interface for fast and secure operation under pressure. Also on display will be the compact MV-3240 multi viewer, accepting up to 32 inputs including 12G Ultra HD, and delivering multiple SDI outputs as well as 12G-SDI and HDMI outputs. All this power is in a single 1RU cabinet, and units can be cascaded to serve more complex environments.

Sports and live broadcasting are also very demanding of graphics systems, and FOR-A will showcase its partnership with ClassX. In use with broadcasters around the world, the ClassX graphics generation and server systems run on standard computers and provide smooth rendering and simple and fast operation.

“We enjoy a very close relationship with the MEA market, and we understand what is really needed by broadcasters and production companies in the region,” said Mohammed Abu Ziyadeh, regional manager MEA at FOR-A. “That is why we are focusing on live production technology at CABSAT, showing how easy it is to work across SDI, uncompressed IP video streams and NDI, to build precisely the functionality needed.

“Partnerships with other key developers are very important to us, and we will show our latest collaborations,” said Abu Ziyadeh. “Our objective is always to get the right result for our customers – technically, operationally and economically. Come and talk to us at CABSAT and see how we can help.”
