Inside Jet-Stream’s Advanced Packaging solution sits Unified Packager, one of the core products from Unified Streaming. With this key piece of Unified software, Jet-Stream can provide its biggest clients more features, more flexibility, and more control.
Unified Packager also works well within Jet-Stream’s software stack, or set of software components.
The advanced packaging solution with Unified Packager inside enables Jet-Stream to address their customers' use cases and needs quickly, and it provides customers more packaging video possibilities. For instance, customers can manage security settings and prepare content for streaming more favorably.
For now, Jet-Stream is integrating Unified Streaming tech for VOD (video on demand) use cases only. The company has signaled that it wishes to expand the role of Unified Packager soon so that it can work within Jet-Stream’s live streaming and DVR (digital video recorder) workflows, too.
How the Jet-Stream and Unified Streaming relationship benefits customers
With Unified Packager, Jet-Stream customers can custom package their video, giving them agility, choice, and full control over their media assets’ settings.
Prior to the integration of Unified Packager, Jet-Stream customers customized videos for an entire video library. Thanks to Jet-Stream’s advanced packaging solution (aided by Unified Streaming tech), Jet-Stream customers can now particularly target their packaging needs. They can customize videos per video title. Multiple packages per asset, based on a user’s device and location, are possible.
Also, having Unified Packager in Jet-Stream workflows allows the company’s customers to update their content later on, if they wish. Services and platforms may add multiple languages to an asset, change DRM settings, and so on.
Other improvements include the ability to change the “chunk” (collection of video segments) size for short-form videos, like trailers or pre-rolls, that optimize media startup. All told, the new solution will allow the biggest customers of Jet-Stream to enhance their video streaming packaging processes.

“We were very happy to collaborate with Jet-Stream on their advanced packaging solution,” said Unified Streaming CEO Dirk Griffioen. “By integrating our technology, Jet-Stream empowers broadcasters and OTT providers with high flexibility and control. Now, delivering a fully personalized viewing experience for every viewer, in any language, on any device, is effortless.”
