Panasonic's AJ-HPX3100G P2 HD Camcorder is a compact 2/3" ENG camera capable of recording full-raster 1920 x 1080 video in a variety of formats and frame rates. From AVC-Intra 100 down to standard-definition DV, the AJ-HPX3100G lets you capture stunning master-quality footage using 4:2:2 10-bit sampling ( ideal for Green Screen ) and up to 24-bit audio. Whether you're shooting news, documentaries, TV series, commercials, or digital cinema, the camera's full range of professional features gives you the control, convenience and portability you need.

The Panasonic AJ-HPX3100G camera is a shoulder mount, classic form factor ENG/EFP camera. While retaining classic lines, it has a whole host of features going for it that really drives it's value. First is the optical block. It's imager is the same as used in the Varicam 3700 and the HPX 3000 which is a full raster high density 1920 x 1080 CCD. It is not a CMOS chipset and with it's high density 2.2 Million megapixel block it shoots great video. In the 2/3" size it's low light sensitivity is tremendous and the AVC Intra 100 or AVC Intra 50 codecs are much better than the older DVCPRO HD codec.

It's Auto Knee and Dynamic Range Stretch functions allow you to shoot in places where blown out backgrounds would have prevented you from shooting before. In location work this is a real advantage.This camera produces rock solid video especially when used in long format, reality, sports or special event videography.

It's gamma settings and paint settings allow operators of various skill levels to get the most out of the camera, while allowing operators to also "grow" into it as well.

Using the B4 bayonet lens mount system, you can put lenses on from Canon, Fujinon, Angenieux or Zeiss without a problem. It's balance is excellent and uses modern V-mount Lithium Ion batteries from either Anton Bauer or IDX and uses 1/3 less power and is 1/3 less heavy than the venerable Varicam 2700 or 3700.

For those videographers looking to upgrade their camera packages and not owe a mountain of money, as well as being able to use pre-existing gear you may already have, the Panasonic AJ-HPX3100G is a great choice.
