NTP Chooses AES New York 2024 as Launch Venue for New Live Music Functionality in DAD Thunder l Core Audio Interfaces

AES Show booth 529, Javits Center, New York, October 8th, 2024 – Digital Audio Denmark has chosen AES New York 2024 as the launch venue for Control | Pack. Supporting the increasingly high channel counts demanded for live sound presentations, Control | Pack will be demonstrated in conjunction with DAD Thunder | Core audio interfaces which are designed for use in studio or location recording and live music production environments as well as film sound post-production.

Available as a free download for Digital Audio Denmark’s DADman firmware, Control | Pack allows include easy configuration of primary and backup audio channels in Thunder | Core for live playout applications. Source and destination selection can be performed manually or with logic-based support.

“Control | Pack elevates the Thunder | Core product range to a higher level of versatility augmented by ultra-low-latency signal processing,” comments Mikael Vest, COO, NTP Technology. “The combination directly addresses the needs of live sound playout. We are demonstrating it with our AX64, AX Center and Core 256 interfaces as fully-fledged solutions that are perfectly suitable for any live sound task, including front-of-house presentation, monitor mixing and playback.”

Up to 32 independent routing preset groups can be configured via DADman and loaded into the AX64, AX Center or Core 256. Each group can accommodate four layers with up to 256 x 256 channels per layer. Switching between input layer presets can be automated as signal triggers in the Thunder | Core interface via DADman or controlled from an external device. Detector and trigger configuration can also be handled independently.

Switching time between routing groups is zero audio samples when operating manually via DADman or an external control panel. Channel switching can also be actioned by a pilot tone or AE6 digital trigger. The processing time for a preset group is less than two audio samples under AE6-based control or around 1 millisecond for pilot tone detection, providing a near-inaudible transition.

Occupying 2U, the AX64 offers 256 Thunderbolt and 256 Dante channels for use in practically any professional audio application. Standard features also include DAD PRO | MON monitor control from mono to immersive plus 128 channels of DAD SPQ loudspeaker processing with a total of 1,024 EQ bands and individual channel delay. The AX64 can be tailored with additional inputs and outputs. The expansion capability is unlimited as any Dante devices can be added, such as extra A/D-D/A converters, microphone preamplifiers, headphone amplifiers, mixing consoles or speakers.

The DAD AX Center is a 1U audio interface and router which can be housed in a rack, placed directly on a desktop or used as part of a transportable recording rig. It is equipped to be the centrepiece of audio conversion and monitor control. The PRO | MON section of the control software gives access to a 512 x 64 channel summing processor. SPQ processing offers 128 channels with a total of 1024 EQ filters, as well as delay, for accurate loudspeaker correction in the studio. The internal routing matrix spans 1,106 x 1,112 channels, allowing any input to be routed to any output or duplicated and routed to several different destinations simultaneously.

Core 256 is the most compact of the DAD Thunder | Core series. A digital router and monitoring interface with 848 input and output channels, it is ready to take on many other tasks in the post production, studio and installed audio spheres. At 1U high and half-rack width, it can share a 1U rack shelf with an Apple Mac Mini running Dolby Atmos Renderer, Dolby Atmos Production Suite or Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite.

NTP Technology’s DAD Thunder | Core has a hardware latency of only nine samples, 28 bit floating point resolution, and is capable of handling up to 256 bidirectional channels at 48 and 96 kHz, 128 channels at 192 kHz and 64 channels at 384 kHz. Thunder | Core also supports Apple Silicon processors, macOS Big Sur and forward with a Core Audio driver, as well as Windows 10 and forward with an ASIO Thunder | Core driver.
