Lightware MTR integration brings advanced flexibility and BYOD capabilities to Teams Rooms

Budapest, Hungary, August 2025 - The integration of Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) with Lightware’s Taurus universal matrix switchers delivers a new level of flexibility in meeting spaces, allowing system integrators to build sophisticated, user-friendly meeting rooms without complex programming. Taurus UCX and TPX users benefit from easier content sharing and flexible connectivity options, whilst leveraging the power of USB-C.

“We are committed to developing hardworking solutions for corporate spaces, educational settings and conference venues,” says Gergely Vida, CEO of Lightware. “The Microsoft Teams Room integration for Taurus UCX and TPX switchers expands connectivity options beyond the limitations of standard room peripherals. While typical codecs only offer a single USB-C input, Taurus extends this capability to multiple USB-C ports along with HDMI and USB connectors, giving users far greater freedom to connect, share and collaborate without compromise.”

Users often face technical challenges in meetings due to limited USB-C inputs and inadequate Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) support. With Lightware’s MTR integration, Taurus switchers connect personal laptops to room peripherals, providing access to audio, video, charging, and wired guest internet via VLAN-based network access. 4K60 Hz 4:4:4 local content sharing ensures high-quality visuals, while support for multi-source scenarios keeps sessions flowing when switching between presenters.

Unlike basic switchers, Taurus monitors whether the room codec is in a call before routing USB and video signals. Features like Auto-Selection, First Detect, Last Detect, and source prioritization ensure smooth handovers without interruptions. For example, if one presenter is sharing content and another connects their laptop just to charge, Taurus’ First Detect mode keeps the original presentation live instead of switching sources incorrectly.

Integration with Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android systems ensures compatibility with popular conferencing hardware such as Cisco Room Devices and HP/Poly X and G series devices. Device monitoring, the robust LW3 protocol, and intelligent automation tools, such as Lightware’s LARA platform, empower system integrators during installation and further reduce IT interventions once the room is in operation, ensuring meetings start on time and run smoothly. Simplified management of displays, lights, projectors, blinds and more can be accessed from a single control panel, improving user experience.

An American health insurance provider recently standardised hundreds of meeting rooms with Microsoft Teams Rooms and chose the Taurus UCX, installed by AV integrator RoomReady, for its reliable video conferencing integration. “Lightware’s technology made the switch simple and vastly improved user experience, providing easy access and control even with personal devices,” says Izzi Demara, Marketing Coordinator at RoomReady.

“The integration of Microsoft Teams Room with our Taurus switchers solves many issues faced in complex collaboration scenarios,” adds Vida. “We are giving users the control and flexibility to carry out successful meetings without interruptions, empowering professionals to focus on the agenda rather than being distracted by technology.”
