iodyne, developer of tools for media professionals including Pro Data, the world’s fastest Thunderbolt™ storage device, will showcase an optimized production workflow ecosystem at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2024 in Amsterdam featuring Adobe, Hedge, Z by HP workstations, Pomfort, RED, Renderboxes, and Softron. Integrated solutions from these hardware and software manufacturers will demonstrate more efficient ways of working across production, visual effects, virtual production, live events, and post workflows, saving video professionals valuable time and resources.
“One of my favorite new workflows is being able to save REDCODE RAW files directly from the camera to a Pro Data with RED Connect. Removing the entire step of offloading and being able to work with the RAW media right away is such a game-changer for productions,” said Dan Duran, Head Supervisor of Post Production and Workflow, RED Digital Cinema. “The best part was the collaboration with the creative minds at iodyne. In testing the workflow in real-life situations with our teams, we were able to solve problems and make improvements along the way, leading to a better product and user experience.”
“Our relationship with these production technology developers goes beyond just ‘working together;’ we dive deep to find new ways that truly add value to end users,” explained Mike Gitig, Senior Director of Media & Entertainment, iodyne. “The better these ecosystem products get, the more the data challenge grows, and we’re working directly with these companies to reduce the bottlenecks and solve data challenges as elegantly and efficiently as possible.”
Editors and artists working in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects need to accommodate high-resolution video playback, manage the time-consuming nature of proxy-based workflows, and be able to move from capture through post quickly. This includes ingest, proxy gen, and playback. iodyne Pro Data gives Adobe Premiere Pro editors the speed, secure ingest, and ability to play back multiple high-resolution video streams simultaneously, either eliminating proxy workflows entirely, or simplifying multi-cam editorial processes. Contact iodyne for a table showcasing the maximum stream count and resolution for multiple codecs applicable to Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects workflows.
iodyne is also working with PC workstation manufacturers, including Z by HP and Renderboxes, to create validated Thunderbolt solutions for complex media workflows. iodyne Pro Data supports a wide variety of PC-based media creation applications, from camera card ingest to heavy post VFX, and virtual production. Pro Data is also the only multi-user, multi-connection, and multi-platform Thunderbolt device—and is the first and only solution supporting Microsoft’s DirectStorage API.
For on-set workflows, iodyne is working closely with two top software developers—Hedge and Pomfort—to make camera card offloads and ingests, check-summing, and media management more efficient and secure. Hedge develops a suite of production-oriented tools, including OffShoot, a platform for data transfers with metadata management for offloads and ingest. Pomfort develops a comprehensive software ecosystem with the Silverstack product range covering media asset and metadata management, high speed transcoding, and dailies creation. Together with iodyne Pro Data, both OffShoot and Silverstack provide power-boosted workflows for their customers. Pro Data accommodates a significantly faster ingest and checksumming process and enables many processes to be done concurrently, saving valuable time for production teams.
Camera manufacturer RED is working directly with iodyne to develop a user workflow design guide to simplify multi-cam recording via Red Connect direct to Pro Data storage. When shooting with five or more cameras, ingest is time-consuming and complex. This workflow is traditionally vulnerable to single points of failure and cards that can be insecure. The two companies are working together to help broadcast, post, visual effects, and live event teams who use multicam workflows, cut their file storage and ingest time by 30-50% by recording directly to an iodyne Pro Data.
Softron develops software video playout and recording solutions that rely on fast storage to accommodate multi-cam shoots. For live, multi-camera workflows, Softron’s MovieRecorder application is an ideal partner for iodyne’s Pro Data. With just a Mac and an ingest card to support them, these solutions complement each other to provide a fly kit-sized rig powerful and sophisticated enough to record multiple 4K channels while editing on-site with MovieRecorder. Softron’s mission has always been to design products that are intuitive, reliable, and affordable, traits fully shared by iodyne’s Pro Data.
