G&D presents KVM News at InfoComm in Orlando

Published: 09 May 2023

The Motto: Networking, AV Education and AV Products
North America's largest AV trade show will once again welcome numerous visitors from around the world to discuss trends and innovations in AV technology. The main topics,   Networking, AV Education and AV Products are also to be found at booth 2749, where Guntermann & Drunck (G&D) will present their latest, German engineered, KVM solutions and their seamless integration into AV systems from  June 14 – 16, 2023. G&D’s products ensure the best possible system homogeneity and interoperability in control room installations.

By integrating an increasing number of technologies, control rooms are becoming more complex and multifunctional. However, this complexity also demands a lot from operators since they have to monitor several processes simultaneously and, at the same time, manage signals and workflows. To make the work of control room staff smarter and improve their working conditions, G&D, as pioneers in the KVM industry, develop highly reliable KVM products making the equipment in use more secure while also enhancing ergonomics.

PersonalWorkplace-Controller: The all-rounder for every control room
The PersonalWorkplace-Controller grants users integrated and flexible access to all the data they need at their workstation. Modified arrangements of operating processes also significantly improve workplace ergonomics. The real-time display of multiple computer sources on one large monitor, and thus the latency-free operation of multiple computers via a single console, facilitates work immensely. Both the high image quality and the unlimited flexibility in the arrangement of sources offer enormous added value. In this way, active work areas and monitoring areas can be ergonomically set up on larger screens.

Smaller, more compact, more powerful – the new VisionXS
Another continuous development in an XS format is the new VisionXS extender line. The high-performance extenders are used in point-to-point operation or in more complex installations in matrix operation. The series includes systems for classic transmission as well as for KVM-over-IP environments. With 10G data transmission technology for an even better user experience and resolutions up to 4K, VisionXS combines great functionality and performance in a small housing. For this series, the manufacturers also rely on their proven, lossless bluedec™ compression, which enables authentic, pixel-perfect video experiences.

In addition to the already available DP-UHR variants for resolutions up to 4096 × 2160 @ 60 Hz, the product range is now complemented by the new DP-HR variants for resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 @ 60 Hz.

Dual-head for better ergonomics and more flexibility
The VisionXS-DP-HR- and VisionXS-IP-DP-HR variants are also available with two display port connectors for multi-monitor applications. This makes it possible to operate up to two monitors at the same time while saving cabling effort and additional hardware by using only one transmission port. On the user side, the new option ensures better ergonomics and greater flexibility at workstations.

Simplified installation with PoE variants
Furthermore, there are new variants supporting Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The new feature allows power to be supplied to the device using the transmission port. This not only reduces the planning and installation effort, the extender can also be secured twice against failures: The device is connected via both the main power supply and the network cable, providing redundancy in case one power supply fails. This guarantees maximum operational safety and reliability during continuous operation.

An investment in the future: the VisionXS with Type-C connection
The latest addition to the VisionXS family are the VisionXS Type-C computer modules. These revolutionary products enable modern sources to be incorporated, such as USB-C computers, notebooks, tablets and even smartphones, following the trend towards an improved and universal USB standard.

VisionXS with Type-C connection
The new USB-C standard brings considerable improvements, and these improvements are exploited to the full by the new VisionXS and VisionXS-IP modules supporting USB-Type-C. The connection can be used to transmit video signals, keyboard and mouse signals and audio, all via a single cable. Furthermore, even the module’s power supply can be provided via the connection.

The Type-C variant transfers DisplayPort1.2 signals in Alt-Mode and enables a maximum resolution of up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. In addition to the video signal and the keyboard and mouse signals, the computer module transmits embedded stereo audio and optionally the USB classes HID (human interface device) and mass storage device, all conveniently via one single interface. This means less cabling is needed and makes installation easier.

Like any other G&D product, the new devices are fully compatible with existing models. The extensive combinability of the KVM systems ensures solutions that are suitable for all applications. This makes it even easier to plan and expand installations, even at a later date.

Education und Networking
In addition to the consulting opportunities at the booth, G&D offers training courses.
It’s possible to attend the basic training „KVM Solutions in Explanation – Introduction to Product World, Technology and Value Added“ on 13. and 14. June at 11:00 a.m. The advanced course „KVM Solutions in the Field – Application, Best Use and User Benefit in Different Industries and Control Rooms“ will take place at 2:30 p.m. on both days.

G&D extended an invitation to its own Networking Event “German Happy Hour” to complete their offerings at InfoComm. The get-together takes place at booth 2749 on 15. June from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
