Atlantic Club of Bulgaria chooses SubtitleNEXT for live subtitling for events including NATO

European technology developer Profuz Digital is proud to announce its partnership with the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria as a Special Technical Partner. To overcome language barriers, the Atlantic Club was looking for a reliable subtitling system to provide efficient translation from Bulgarian to English and vice versa. Profuz Digital now provides the Atlantic Club with live subtitling services using their leading software platform SubtitleNEXT for high-profile events, including conferences with NATO.

Based on its unique experience in political innovation, the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria is one of the country’s leading NGOs in international relations, foreign policy, security, and disinformation prevention, and regularly organises prominent events on various important topics of national concern. Many of these forums involve speakers from Bulgaria with experts and scholars from abroad who do not speak or understand the Bulgarian language.

“The SubtitleNEXT product is suitable for us precisely because of its focus — by generating translation from speech in one language, to subtitles on screen, in another language, it significantly helps us ensure that our audiences who do not speak English, are able to understand what is being discussed,” said Gabriel Penchev, assistant project coordinator at the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria.

The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria wasted no time in putting SubtitleNEXT to work and used the software platform at two recent major events. The conferences were supported by Profuz Digital, providing simultaneous AI-generated subtitles through their innovative product SubtitleNEXT.

The first conference “NATO after The Hague ’25: The Bulgarian Perspective 2025–2035” took place on 31 July at the Central Military Club in Sofia, with the support of the Union of Reserve Officers “Atlantic”(SORA). The forum gathered key representatives of the executive and legislative branches, former prime ministers, analysts, and security experts, covered by leading national media and laid the foundation for continued dialogue among institutions, experts, and civil society organisations in the pursuit of NATO’s goals through 2035.

The second event held on 8 September called “Building a Stronger NATO: Implementing the Decisions of the Hague Summit” was introduced by the President of the Atlantic Club, Dr. Solomon Passy, featuring special guest Deputy Secretary General of NATO Radmila Šekerinska, who delivered a public lecture before a wide audience of diplomats, politicians, security experts, academia, and journalists.

“At both events real-time subtitles and interactive captions were provided throughout using SubtitleNEXT for multilingual accessibility and event communication. This facilitated content comprehension for all participants in the hall, including international guests. Profuz Digital was credited at the opening of the lecture, and owing to SubtitleNEXT’s live subtitling capabilities, people at the conferences could follow subtitles that were presented on screen for the whole duration of the event.” Gabriel Penchev added further.

“Although translation services are developing with the integration of AI, it is not widely offered by technology startups or companies in Bulgaria, and if offered, it tends to be unreasonably expensive. After we came across Profuz Digital, we realised that they were offering exactly the type of service we were looking for. Following conversations with Profuz Digital’s CEO Ivanka Vassileva, we agreed to collaborate.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ivanka and her team once again for standing behind us and providing us with one of the most important technical support roles — the translation,” confirmed Gabriel Penchev.

“We are delighted to be in partnership with the prestigious Atlantic Club of Bulgaria,” noted CEO of Profuz Digital Ivanka Vassileva, “A crucial goal for the Atlantic Club is that the focus, resonance, and added value of information at their events has to be understood, not only by the people in the room attending the sessions, but by those who share their values, whether reading about it or watching the events online. SubtitleNEXT has a proven track record, and we are honoured that it is being used to undergo this important work with high profile speakers on such urgent and pertinent topics.”

“SubtitleNEXT has a modular design and is fully equipped with a creative suite of toolsets bringing flexibility to subtitling. Our continuous focus is on how our software can adapt to each customer’s unique way of working. By investing in SubtitleNEXT, organisations place themselves in the best position to capitalise on next-generation technologies to stay ahead and ensure messaging remains accessible and inclusive. We look forward to supporting the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria with many more events ahead by providing them with cutting-edge services.” Kamen Ferdinandov, CTO of Profuz Digital stated.

SubtitleNEXT is an affordable timed-text software platform that is intuitive and manages subtitles and audio description.  The latest version is packed with an extensive host of stunning new features. SubtitleNEXT has an impressive portfolio of successful organisations already embracing it, including Proximus Media House, London’s Wilco Media, Euro Media Group (EMG), Polsat, Bulgarian National Television, IT Pros Italy, Digitalmeister, Leinhäuser Language Services,  University of Warsaw, Ghent and KU Leuven University, and others.
