Rise Awards Announces Shortlist for 2021

Rise, the award-winning advocacy group for women in the broadcast media technology sector, is thrilled to reveal the shortlist for this year’s Rise Awards.

The judges saw an outstanding selection of global nominations from women in a variety of roles across the industry in several categories including: Business, Marketer/PR, Product Innovation, Production Support Engineer, R&D Engineer, Rising Star, Sales, Technical Operations, Woman of the Year, and this year’s three new categories, Company Award For Investment in Women, Influencer and Student.

The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 18 November from 17:00 BST as part of the DPP Leaders’ Briefing event in London and streamed globally, courtesy of Red Bee Media. The winners will be announced during the live ceremony with attendees in person and virtually.

Details on attendance will be announced shortly.

Emmy-nominated Re-recording Mixer Gets Creative With NUGEN Audio Plug-ins

A 15-year veteran of the film and TV business, freelance re-recording mixer Alexandra Fehrman loves to get creative with her projects. Nominated for a 2021 Sound Mixing Emmy for her work on Amazon’s drama The Boys, Fehrman works with Formosa Group, a post-production facility in Los Angeles, as well as from her home studio. Fehrman, like many audio pros, started her career in music as a teenager and has been pursuing sound mixing ever since. Her specialties include streaming and TV series, as well as feature and independent films. As she ramps up her work on streaming projects, Fehrman continually turns to NUGEN Audio’s VisLM loudness meter, Paragon reverb and Halo Upmix/Halo Downmix plug-ins for reliability, accuracy and creativity.

Television City Partners with Women in Media to Provide Skills Training to Women at Several of Los Angeles and rsquo; Iconic Studios

Television City, the iconic media campus owned and operated by an affiliate of Hackman Capital Partners (HCP), announced today a partnership with Women in Media (WIM) and its CAMERAderie Initiative to conduct a training program for women seeking below-the-line production jobs. Participants in the new program will be taught on-set technical skills, virtually and on-site, by experts employed at Television City and other studio properties owned by HCP and operated by The MBS Group. The program will culminate with participants producing and premiering several short films. Television City is supporting this partnership through its $1 million Changing Lenses pledge, whose goal is to promote efforts that increase equity and diversity in the entertainment industry.

GRAVITY MEDIA LANDS RTS PROGRAMME AWARDS 2020 NOMINATION

Gravity Media, the leading global provider of complex live broadcast facilities and production services to content owners, creators and distributors, has been nominated in the Best Sports Programme category at the RTS Programme Awards 2020. Its UK Production & Content team (known at the time as Input Media) has been shortlisted for its coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup semi-final between England and USA last July. The live broadcast on BBC One was the highest live TV audience of 2019 at the time as 11.7m viewers watched England lose 2-1 to the eventual tournament winners.

The BBC selected Input Media to produce live programming of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which was held in France, for broadcast on the BBC’s network TV channels, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website. Input Media had previously provided a similar service for BBC at the 2015 tournament in Canada. A record-breaking 28.1m people - 47% of the UK population - tuned in to watch the Input Media-produced coverage of the 2019 Women's World Cup on BBC television and online.
