Hiltron Sustains Momentum in Communications Technology with Latest Advances in LEO Satellite Tracking, Satcom Control and 3D Laser-Based Satellite Antenna Scanning
|
Posted: 10/10/2022

Hiltron Communications, a globally active satellite system integrator, manufacturer and distributor, reports continuing the expansion of its range of products and services. The mid September IBC 2022 show in Amsterdam was chosen for the first European promotion of Hiltron's HMAM LEO motorised antenna mount, HSACU4 antenna control unit and 3D laser-based satcom antenna scanning service. "Low-earth-orbit satellites occupy the sharp edge of communications technology, as evidenced by the strong investment in satellite constellations offering low-latency internet access from practically any location," says Jean-Luc George van Eeckhoutte, Hiltron Sales Manager. "Our recently introduced HMAM LEO is a complete system combining the strength, precision, smoothness of operation and internal computing capabilities necessary to monitor low Earth orbit satellites. LEO satellites typically have an orbiting period of 128 minutes or less, making at least 11.25 orbits per day. Precise tracking is essential."

Hiltron Completes Fully Integrated TVRO Platform Control System for Nilesat
|
Posted: 08/04/2020
|
Hiltron Communications announces the completion of a custom-designed turnkey TVRO satellite platform for Nilesat, one of the largest Middle East telecommunication networks. The new installation is a fully L-band-over-fibre integrated downlink which covers all mediator satellites in the range from 30° west to 100° east, operating in C and Ku bands simultaneously.
"Located at our ground station in Giza, the new downlink gives us the reliability and flexibility we needed for backing up our existing fixed TVRO antennas," says Nilesat Head of Ground Segment Engineer Osama Tantawy. "Incoming signals from all antennas on the new platform, 32 feeds in total, are connected to the master control room via fibre-optic links. Hiltron has produced and integrated a complete solution including its HMCS monitoring and control software. The company worked closely with us from initial design right through to factory acceptance test, onsite installation, commissioning and training. The project was completed successfully and on time thanks to the experience and teamwork of everyone involved."

Hiltron Reports Strong Sales of HCS-4 Satellite System Controller
|
Posted: 23/01/2020
|
Hiltron Communications reports strong demand for its HCS-4 satcom system controller which has been integrated into various projects for customers in Europe, the Middle East and Far East.
An innovative recent implementation has been for one of the Middle East's largest telecommunication service-providers. This includes a switching and control system for Swedish Microwave optical low noise block downconverters. The HCS-4 powers and monitors the downconverters, checking for faults such as channel interrupts. If an interrupt is detected, the HCS-4 automatically switches to a backup signal source. Three downconverters are connected via optical fibre in a two-active-plus-one-backup configuration.
"The Middle East system follows on from the recent completion of a large project for a leading European satellite network operator," says Hiltron Managing Director Antonio Monteverde. "This included the integration of a 12U rack of monitoring equipment at 50 separate locations around the world, each with an HCS-4 as the control interface. Every system was pre-assembled and fully tested at our Backnang headquarters prior to on site integration."

Hiltron Integrates Large-Scale High-Throughput Satellite Monitoring System
|
Posted: 23/10/2019
|
Hiltron Communications announces the conclusion of a major systems integration project for a leading European satellite network operator. The new systems have been delivered to 50 sites around the world where they are being used for continuous quality of service monitoring of high-throughput satellites.
Hiltron has supplied each of the 50 sites with a compact 12U rack populated with the monitoring equipment. The systems delivered are located at monitoring sites across North America, South and Central America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Each system includes a Hiltron HCS-4 satellite communication controller which is designed to form the central control element for a wide range of satcom applications. These include switchover between devices such as downconverters, high power amplifiers, waveguides, MPEG digital video broadcast encoders and integrated receiver/decoders.
The HCS-4 can also be used to control and monitor optical-fibre transceivers and antenna heaters. Other features include an N-1 redundancy switch and BUC/HPA controller, an LNB supply, a 2-1 LNB redundancy switch controller, plus a GPS-synchronised fully redundant low-noise 10 MHz reference generator.
Hiltron's HCS-4 satellite communication controller is available as a 2U high 19 inch rack mount unit with main and backup power supplies plus 13 slots for active modules. Also available are two chassis mountable frames accommodating up to 6 or up to 14 active modules. |
