DoCaptions New OP-47 and SMPTE 2031 Subtitle Monitoring Unit Reduces Installation and Operational Costs Posted: 31/08/2016
DoCaption today launched a new member of its stand-alone subtitle- and closed-caption-monitoring product line that helps reduce installation and operational costs in production and broadcast environments. Designed to work in accordance with OP-47 and SMPTE 2031, the new MU-T4731 automatically detects, decodes, and displays subtitling/captioning data from 3G/HD-SDI video signals. The unit outputs an HDMI signal in native format with subtitles overlaid on the video, allowing monitoring on any HDMI-capable video monitor or multiviewer. An audio output, available through a stereo line or HDMI, also allows for confidence consistency-checking between audio and subtitles, when required.

CRYSTAL VISIONS SYNCHRONISING UP DOWN CROSS CONVERTER PROVIDES TIMED SIGNALS IN TWO FORMATS Posted: 29/06/2012

Crystal Vision now allows broadcast engineers to synchronise sources timed to a different reference or correct any processing delays while up or down converting. With flexible conversions between SD, 720p, 1080i and 1080p, the Up-Down-AS 3G synchronising up/down/cross converter provides an output picture quality that broadcasters standardise on and can perform two different conversions simultaneously, giving a continuous clean output in two formats thanks to two downstream synchronisers. It is available in four versions as the Up-Down-AS 3G, Up-Down-AFDS 3G, Up-Down-ATS 3G and Up-Down-ATXS 3G with each version providing different features.

SYSMEDIA FUTURE-PROOFS TELETEXT WITH DIGITAL-READY SOLUTION Posted: 31/03/2010
SysMedia has seized the technology initiative with the introduction of a digital-ready teletext version of its Plasma Gold production system. This development meets the market need to support both analogue and digital teletext services as well as to provide future-proof capabilities for mobile, web and digital interactive TV coverage.

This new entry-level version of Plasma Gold has been developed in direct response to requests from broadcasters. Andrew Lambourne, SysMedia's CEO, says, "While it may surprise some people, traditional teletext is alive and thriving. Many broadcasters now face the dilemma of needing to replace outdated teletext systems while knowing that their future rests with the next generation of digital and multiplatform delivery. Our digital-ready approach supports existing services and allows easy migration to multiplatform - significantly reducing technology costs and minimising the duplication of production effort."
