Sony strengthens its IP Live Production solution with Cisco

Sony Imaging Products and Solutions Inc. and Cisco announced a new global collaboration to create IP networking technologies for 4K/HD live production applications in the broadcast, media and entertainment industries. The agreement between the two companies will give customers worldwide an expanded range of flexible, proven and reliable IP systems.

Sony is a leading manufacturer of live production systems offering 4K/HD system cameras, production switchers and servers. In recent years, Sony has fully supported the IP transition, delivering 4K/HD studio cameras, OB trucks and remote production solutions for the broadcast live production market. Now more than 70 companies support the IP Live Alliance. In addition, Sony has led industry efforts for AV over IP standardization, working with JT-NM, AIMS and AMWA.

Cisco is a leader in flexible and reliable IP networking and developed Professional Media Network (PMN) solutions for the media and entertainment markets, including the Nexus 9000 series switches and Data Centre Network Manager (DCNM).

Working with them will help us expand our 4K/HD IP live production solutions, combining our advanced broadcast equipment with their latest IP networking technologies to satisfy our customers,” said Masakazu Murata, General Manager, Media Segment Business Division of Sony.

Sony and Cisco are working closely on system verification and global sales and marketing collaborations. Additional plans will be announced in the coming months.
