Quarantine Cook-along with AEG

Aiming to help inspire the increasing number of people in lockdown turning to cooking and baking, AEG collaborated with video production company Monarki Stockholm and Scandinavian Photo to help produce a multicam live stream cook-along show.

Broadcasting on the AEG Global Facebook account, the six episodes have amassed hundreds of thousands of views, with the most popular “Crispy fried chicken with star chef Sebastian Gilbrand” attracting more than 135,000 watchers.

Marcus Frendberg, CEO at Monarki Stockholm begins, “The concept was to provide fun, interactive recipes to help people in quarantine get the most out of what they have lying around in their cupboards. The first episode was streamed with just an iPhone on a tripod and a simple microphone.

“The response was fantastic,” he continues. “And more episodes were scheduled in a hurry. Being a studio that has never done any live streaming before, however, I quickly realised I was missing crucial tech and knowledge if we wanted to step up our game in terms of production quality.”

Monarki normally works on high-end social media content for brands, using DaVinci Resolve with a Resolve Micro Panel for grading. “I therefore already had a good reference to Blackmagic Design, and I have always known them to be a reliable provider of live production technology.”

He adds, “I wanted to use the cameras I already own to deliver a three camera production and so I needed a versatile switching platform that could handle a mix of SDI and HDMI sources. We also required XLR connectivity for audio. I was recommended the ATEM Television Studio Pro HD as it gave me the control and capability needed to create a program format that met the highest standard expected by AEG.”
