Pixel Power offers the future today at Broadcast Asia
Broadcast Asia 2017, Booth 4T3-08: Pixel Power, the global automation, branding and graphics innovator, will demonstrate its innovative solutions using the StreamMaster¢ Media Processing and Gallium¢ Workflow Automation platforms at Broadcast Asia 2017. These provide a unique modular approach to every aspect of channel delivery and content production automation. Because they are software-only and virtualized solutions they offer a revolutionary approach to licensing and therefore total cost of ownership.

Pixel Power has been dedicated to the broadcast industry since we formed the company 30 years ago, said Pixel Power founder and CEO James Gilbert. We are steeped in the technology, of course, but more important we understand what is really important to broadcasters.

Today that means ensuring that the best use is made of talented and experienced staff, allowing them to concentrate on creative tasks, while repetitive manual tasks become automated through dedicated workflow processes, he explained. Our products deliver that agility using technology that is ready for the new virtualized, IP-connected world.

At Broadcast Asia 2017, Pixel Power will be showing StreamMaster Deliver, a channel playout platform designed for implementation on-premise, in a data centre or in the public cloud. As well as full functionality for the automated playout of premium channels, the system also handles live feeds, sophisticated animated graphics and comprehensive 3D DVE functionality using the Clarity¢ graphics engine.

Also on display is the Gallium workflow orchestration layer, which forms the basis of products such as Factory¢, which automatically creates multiple versions of trailers and promos to minimise repetitive tasks; and Promote, which can automatically generate programme junctions and graphical imagery, calling on data from external sources as required.

These products are also transformational because Pixel Power is able to offer them on perpetual, time or usage licences. Media companies can buy solutions outright; licence applications by the quarter; or pay per hour of actual usage. Licences can be mixed and matched: a 2D graphics production system which is owned outright, for example, could have access to a floating 3D licence, paying just for the hours used.

The media industry is looking to virtualization and the cloud because it allows them to be much more flexible with the use of hardware, and therefore with its cost, said Pixel Powers James Gilbert. By matching that flexibility with the application licenses, we are offering the broadcaster a genuine path from capex to opex financing, helping them to tie costs directly to opportunities and to revenues.

DoPchoice Intros SNAPBOX Light Controller for Flex and Tile Style Lights Posted: 21/08/2017

DoPchoice, makers of quick, easy and lightweight light shaping tools are continually expanding their portfolio and range of existing products for a wide range of lighting fixtures. DoPchoices big product introduction at IBC will be our SNAPBOX¢. Lighting professionals are turning to flexible LED mats or tiles to provide large, powerful and economical sources of soft light. To control these lights and to soften their output, DoPchoice has developed the SNAPBOX, a quick to deploy diffusion box that literally snaps up in seconds. The SNAPBOX stretches white Magic Cloth¢ fabric in front of the light source, which results in a smooth, uniform and leak-free light output. And its versatile side panels add an extra dimension of illumination control. The SNAPBOX folds down into a small bag for easy transportation.

Hudson Spider to premier worlds first parabolic LED Posted: 21/08/2017

Premiering at IBC to the European film and broadcast industry, the Redback from Hudson Spider is the worlds first parabolic layout of LEDs for film lighting. The Redback spider creates beautiful, directional soft light without the need for diffusion, bounce or flags. Photographers have long bounced light into umbrellas with flash, but until now, this quality of soft light has proved impossible to bring to constant lighting utilising LEDs. Hudson Spider's prototypes are already becoming workhorses on the biggest film and TV sets worldwide. The 36 Redback edition is the first model in the highly anticipated Hudson Spider range. Additional diffusions also come as part of the kit.
