Its a tradition: for over 64 years, the ski season has begun in the theaters every year with a new action documentary by Warren Miller Entertainment. The promotional films tour the world, whetting the appetites of ski and snowboarding fans alike and encouraging them to partake in winter sports. For some years now, cinematographer and director Tom Day has been responsible for the creative realization of the films. While Day does not know where the assignment will take him prior to filming, he already has his equipment ready to go beforehand; during filming in the snow worldwide, he always relies on the Sachtler Cine 7+7 HD and FSB 8 fluid heads. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Bill Fenster chooses the Sachtler Ace M for political documentary Posted: 30/10/2013
Documentarian Bill Fenster based in Phoenix, Arizona has relied on Sachtler fluid heads and tripods throughout his career. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company. Therefore, when he first put a Sachtler Ace M to work in the summer of 2013, he was more than familiar with Sachtlers signature operational feel that the new, small tripod system would have to live up to. It was quite a challenge, keeping the quality of Sachtler with the much miniaturized size, he said. You wouldnt believe this thing it has Sachtlers immaculate movement, as all Sachtler tripods do. But this thing, you can practically put it in your back pocket.

Bertie Gregory and Sachtler Ace M on Vancouver Island Posted: 16/10/2013
For more than two years, Bertie Gregory, the nineteen-year-old wildlife videographer from England, shot the fauna on Vancouver Island, Canada. This island, the largest in the Pacific in North America, is not only home to black bears, one of Gregory's main focuses. Wolves, pumas, and whales can also be found there. The young filmmaker recently finished his almost 16-minute documentary, West Coast Adventure, in which he also narrates and presents about black bears on the island. Since he did not want the bears to feel threatened or scared in their habitat, he shot from a boat with his Nikon D7000. For a firm stand, the wildlife filmmaker depended upon the lightweight and robust Ace M tripod system by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Sachtler Ace M Perfect Fit for Fishers Arbys Spots Posted: 30/07/2013
For the first in a series of quirky national spots for the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, cinematographer Gavin Fisher decided to use the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera, Canon lenses, and his trusty Ace M by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, for support. For this first spot, for Arbys, we shot in a small artist loft location, and on a very tight schedule, explains Fisher. I needed a lightweight package that I could move quickly. The Ace M was my perfect solution.

Sachtlers FSB 8 T Goes Off-the-Grid for Mountain Men Shoot Posted: 16/07/2013

The crew at Warm Springs Productions might be laid back and friendly, but when it comes to producing their outdoor reality television and hunting shows, its all professional. We use only the best equipment, and only the best tripods to keep the cameras stable, says equipment manager Mike Schweizer. Thats why we use Sachtler tripods and heads on all our shoots. Theyve been to the deepest swamps and the snowiest peaks. We trust our tripods to keep a steady shot in -50 degrees, in waist-high water and in torrential downpours. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom and a Vitec Group company.

Rodney Charters pressed for time with the Sachtler Video 18 Posted: 11/06/2013
Director and Producer Alicia Brauns recently had a very personal story to tell about her fathers journey from holocaust survivor to well-known surgeon. To depict that journey and Dr. Jack Brauns positive outlook on life, she turned to her favorite cinematographer, Rodney Charters, ASC. The two knew they would be covering an extensive amount of ground, from inside the infamous camps to the journey through Germany and beyond in a short shooting time. They had to build their shooting package carefully so they chose Canon C300s supported by a fluid head and legs from Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Sachtlers Ace M Provides Fluid Movement for Surf Documentary Posted: 02/05/2013
Filmmaker Kellen Keene is dedicated to documenting artistic endeavors through his visuals. Recently, he was inspired to go behind-the-scenes with surfer and photographer Chris Burkard to show what it is like to be a surf photographer and to showcase how some of the images Burkard shoots are made. Keene knew every shot had to be in-the-moment, so he wanted a shooting package that could keep up with the quixotic personality of the surf. Thats why we shot most of the project on the Canon 5D Mark II and Nikon d800s. We also used the new GoPro 3. We had multiple water housings, stabilization gear and various Canon L-series and Nikon glass. For support, my choice was Sachtlers Ace M. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Making demanding web videos around the world with Sachtlers Ace M Posted: 19/04/2013

"Nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come," thought young filmmakers Paul Jax and Niclas Lffler in the spirit of Victor Hugo and so they started their own film production company We Make Them Wonder in 2012. Their specialty: web videos that stand out from the crowd demanding and creative. With these ideas, they are very successful, and their commissioned work has already taken them to 18 countries. The filmmakers were looking for a handy, lightweight tripod system suited to the budget of the young start-up company; they needed a system with a quick set-up, durability, versatility, intuitive operation, and designed for work with video-enabled DSLR cameras. They chose the Ace M tripod system with mid-level spreader by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.
