Orange Chooses Harmonic for Combined IPTV and OTT Service Delivery Posted: 24/10/2017
 Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery technology and services, today announced that Orange, one of the world's leading telecommunications operators, has upgraded its IPTV and OTT video delivery architecture with a Harmonic live encoding and transcoding platform. At the heart of the workflow is Harmonic's Electra¢ software-based system, which offers Orange a unified solution for both IPTV and OTT delivery to approximately 6.6 million subscribers in France, streamlining operations and providing the operator with the flexibility to reuse system capacity as its needs evolve over time. Using Harmonic's video delivery solution, Orange is able to provide its subscribers a wide channel offering, including 160 SD and 30 HD channels for OTT and 126 SD and 40 HD channels for IPTV.

Zenterio, a leading television and multiscreen solutions provider, announced today that Forthnet, the largest entertainment and communications provider in Greece, has deployed Zenterio OS on set-top boxes (STBs) for its satellite pay-TV offering. Thanks to the flexible, modular design of Zenterio OS, Forthnet successfully added OTT services, VOD content, and a USB DVB-T dongle to its legacy STBs, while retaining the look and feel of the existing user interface. More than 650,000 already deployed STBs have now been upgraded to Zenterio OS, and the software has also been added to next-generation STBs delivered to new subscribers.

Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, today announced that the largest cable operator in Kazakhstan, Almatel Kazakhstan, operating under the brand name Alma TV, has augmented its cable television service with the launch of a direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television platform using the latest generation HEVC video compression solution from Harmonic. Harmonic's Electra(TM) X advanced media processing platform allows Alma TV to deliver high-quality SD, HD and UHD channels across Kazakhstan with increased bandwidth efficiency by leveraging the HEVC video codec. Using the software-based Electra X system, Alma TV will be able to easily adopt new formats and codecs in the future, including 4K/UHD.
