PMC Showcases Dolby Atmos Adoption at NAMM 2019

A Dolby Atmos® demo suite will form the centerpiece of PMC’s booth (16112) at NAMM 2019, giving artists, producers and recording engineers an opportunity to experience Dolby Atmos through a world-class monitoring system.

PMC’s award-winning large, active three-way MB3-XBD-A monitors will form the left, right and center channels of the 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos enabled system, with the rest of the system comprising four PMC twotwoSub2 monitors and a total of 16 Wafer 1 compact slimline monitors for the surround, rear and height channels. The set-up is similar to the system used to showcase Dolby Atmos in PMC’s popular Masters of Audio seminars at the AES show in New York. Content will be played back using the Dolby Atmos renderer software, Pro Tools and Focusrite RedNet I/O.

“We are really thrilled to be partnering again with Dolby on this project, which is designed to showcase the benefits of mixing in Dolby Atmos, the leading immersive audio solution adopted by the audio post and music mixing community,” says Maurice Patist, President of PMC USA. “The content we will be demoing has been mixed or re-mixed in Capitol Studios, which features a complete PMC monitoring system incorporating IB2S-XBD-A, IB2S-A-C, twotwosub2 and Wafer 1 monitors. We have also built a Dolby Atmos room for Universal Music in Nashville and we’ll be collaborating on a second room at Capitol Studios later this year.”

During NAMM 2019, PMC will also showcase other products from its extensive range of professional monitors, including its ever popular twotwo series and the result6 compact nearfield reference monitor that was launched in 2017 to huge critical acclaim.

“We have monitoring products that are suited to every application – from recording and mixing to mastering, post production and broadcast,” Maurice Patist adds. “All PMC pro reference monitors are renowned for their high resolution, detail and accuracy and we are very proud to feature in the studios and post production facilities of so many top artists, producers, film composers and mix engineers.”
