IEEE BTS Extends Educational Program, Launches New IP Video Course Posted: 19/03/2015

The IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS) today announced the launch of a new one-day course, "IP Video for Broadcast Engineers." The Iconic Rainbow Room Officially Reopens with a PBS Primetime Special Featuring Michael Feinstein and DPA Microphones Posted: 08/12/2014

Coinciding with the reopening of an iconic Manhattan venue, PBS recently broadcast a 60-minute primetime special, Michael Feinstein at The Rainbow Room, as part of its Fall Arts Festival programming. As a loyal DPA Microphones user, Feinsteins long-time Production Manager and FOH Engineer Andy Brattain ensured that the performers microphone of choice was used for the taping, which included a variety show and a series of big band performances. South Carolina Installs Two Broadcast Pix Mica Systems for HD Video Coverage of State House Posted: 10/03/2014

While South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) produces a variety of original television programming and provides video production services for other state agencies, one of its primary responsibilities is coverage of the states House of Representatives and Senate proceedings. When the operation was upgraded to HD production in late 2013, SCETV installed two Broadcast Pix¢ Mica¢ integrated production switchers to handle switching, graphics, and more.

SCETV is a statewide network of PBS member stations based in Columbia.Established in the 1950s for distance learning, it has 11 call letter stations across the state, as well as eight radio stations. State House coverage is broadcast on ETV World, one of the networks multicast channels, and streamed live to www.scstatehouse.gov.

Maryland Public Television Standardizes on Facilis TerraBlock Shared Storage Posted: 19/02/2014

Maryland Public Television (MPT) recently installed a 144-TB Facilis TerraBlock shared storage environment in its post production facility to increase capacity, accelerate post production and enhance project collaboration. From series Outdoors Maryland to Chesapeake Collectables, the systems will play an integral role in MPTs creation of weekly programming for the state of Maryland. MPT also is using the TerraBlock systems in production on national programs such as the long running MotorWeek and the soon to be released childrens science show Space Racers that will be shared with PBS affiliates across the U.S.

PBS Installs Nexidia Dialogue Search to Improve Searches of Vast Asset Library Posted: 14/09/2013
Nexidia, developer of dialogue and audio analysis products and technologies for optimizing audio and video media, today announced that PBS has installed Nexidia Dialogue Search and will use it with its new media asset management (MAM) system to enhance search capabilities. The PBS Media Operations Center is ingesting years' worth of archived video into the new MAM. Dialogue Search gives a broad array of PBS users -- from editors to library managers to brand managers -- an effective way to search its vast video archive in order to repurpose the media.
