Light Iron and Quantel go 6K for Gone Girl

Leading Hollywood post house, Light Iron, has used Quantel's Pablo Rio color and finishing system to complete the world's first 6K feature post production on director David Fincher's latest thriller, 'Gone Girl'. Light Iron upgraded one of its six Pablo Rios with additional GPUs to support an 8K workflow and used its Quantel Genetic Engineering 2 shared workflow system to complete the 6K color correction in multiple rooms at Light Iron's Los Angeles facility, all in realtime. Light Iron is home to four Pablo Rio systems in Los Angeles and a further two in New York.

Light Iron Bolsters 4K Post Production Capabilities in New York with Facilis TerraBlock

Since launching in Los Angeles five years ago, Light Iron has emerged as a post production leader and technical innovator, lending its expertise to high-profile projects like "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "The Amazing Spiderman." Whether producing digital cinema, episodic television or commercial content, the company embraces a progressive approach to DI, on-set dailies and finishing to deliver unparalleled service to its clients. In 2013, Light Iron expanded into New York, opening a new local post production facility in which it recently installed a Facilis TerraBlock shared storage system. The addition of TerraBlock to its workflow came as part of a larger effort to future proof the studio for the advent of 4K editorial.

Quantel Pablo creates the look for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Hollywood post house Light Iron put its two Quantel Pablo color correction systems to the ultimate test in carrying out the 4K DI for David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Dragon Tattoo is among the largest 4K movies ever delivered: at 2 hours and 38 minutes, the final DI consists of almost 250,000 frames of 45 megabytes each. Light Iron's Pablos proved more than equal to the task, helping to produce an 'elegantly cinematic'* result.
