Imagine Communications Platinum IP3 Powers Cinevideo OB Truck and nbsp;

Imagine Communications, empowering the media and entertainment industry through transformative innovation, has supplied the core infrastructure, including a powerful multi-format router, for a radical new outside broadcast truck built by Italian production company Cinevideo. The new trucks innovative design allows Cinevideo to serve the most demanding of todays requirements, while being ready for the IP future.

The new 12-meters, triple-expanding unit provides up to 60 square metres of internal space. The truck accommodates two production and two audio control rooms, giving Cinevideo the flexibility to provide multiple versions of an event, or to provide both coverage of a sporting event and the commentary from one truck. To deliver optimum flexibility and versatility, Cinevideo required that its new truck handle HD and 4k/UHD resolutions, as well as standard and high dynamic range signals, simultaneously.

Monitoring large numbers of sources in different formats led to a requirement for 24 monitors, both full HD and 4k, which can each be configured as HD mosaic, quad splits or single 4k displays. This level of flexibility demanded an advanced multiviewer system, which is a standard, integrated feature of the Platinum¢ IP3 15RU router from Imagine Communications.

As well as providing multiviewer capability and the ability to switch large numbers of signals, the highly resilient Platinum IP3 also handles video up and down conversion, audio multiplexing and de-multiplexing and discrete AES and MADI. All of this functionality is provided in a single 15RU cabinet.

Dolphin-7 has been designed to be as flexible as possible, to accommodate a variety of events and to meet all customer requirements, said Andrea Buonomo, executive sales manager at Cinevideo. Versatility is a key function in live production and the quick configurability of the IP3 helps us seamlessly move from different productions or even to different clients for the same production without the downtime normally required to prepare a mobile production unit. We chose the IP3 router to empower our operators with the ability to switch configurations at will and handle native 4k along with 3G or HD signals simultaneously.

The architecture of the Platinum IP3 allows it to simultaneously switch both SDI and IP-based video and audio signals, making it an ideal bridge to the future while providing unrivalled capabilities today.

Mathias Eckert, senior vice president EMEA and APAC at Imagine Communications, said: The Platinum IP3 is proving to be a mobile production core infrastructure workhorse, increasingly recognised for its versatility, reliability and support for hybrid production environments. The IP3 is helping innovative companies such as Cinevideo meet todays customer requirements and whatever the future might bring.

Systems integrator for the new Cinevideo truck was Broadcast Solutions Italy. Dolphin-7 is now in service.

Studio Technologies Offers Flex-Use Audio Resources with Model 5330 Interface
Studio Technologies, manufacturer of high-quality audio, video, and fiber-optic solutions, introduces the Model 5330 Flex-Use Dante(r) Audio Interface, a simple yet high-performance means of interfacing analog signals with applications that utilize Dante audio-over-Ethernet media networking technology. Four line-level analog sources can be connected to the unit and then, after conversion to digital, output by way of four output (transmitter) channels associated with the Dante interface. Four signals that arrive by way of Dante can be converted to analog and then output as balanced line-level signals. A 2-channel/stereo monitor section allows the input and output signals to be selectively observed using meters, a headphone output, and line-level outputs.

EditShare Jumps Into The Game With Ubisoft Montreal Posted: 14/11/2018
EditShare Jumps Into The Game With Ubisoft Montr and eacute;al

EditShare® a technology leader in intelligent scale-out storage, AQC and media management solutions, is helping UbiSoft Montreal meet the demands of live capture, editing and real-time playback of up to 4K content with its enterprise EditShare XStream EFS 450 shared storage solutions and integrated EditShare Geevs video servers which support up to 4 concurrent ingest and playout streams. “We have a different set up from the typical capture or montage studio. First, our montage studio is larger than the average. With over 3,500 people on staff, we have a lot of different connections and workflow demands,” says Michel Forbes, System Administrator, Ubisoft Montreal. “One of the key workflows is live capture, edit and real-time video playback. This is the defacto workflow for many teams; the complexity of managing such a large operation and heavy project load requires a high degree of organization and system performance. We researched the options and found EditShare to be versatile enough to meet the requirements with the performance necessary to support the nuances and needs of these demanding productions.”
