The GTC has changed its name from The Guild of Television Cameramen to Guild of Television Camera Professionals after a ballot of its membership.

GTC announces this years Television Cameramans Award (TiCA) winner, to be presented at the GTC Awards Day for members and invited guests Posted: 05/05/2017

The GTC Council are very pleased to announce that this years TiCA award is being presented to Paul Berriff OBE. The TiCA (Television Cameraman's Award) is awarded to an individual who, in the opinion of the Council, has furthered the cause of the GTC by fostering and improving the art and craft of the professional television cameraman over many years.

GTC announces GTC Awards Day and AGM for members and invited guests not to be missed Posted: 20/04/2017
The Guild of Television Cameramen (GTC) has announced the date and venue for its annual awards and AGM for 2017. The day is Sunday 14 May and will run from 09:00 to 22:00.
Sponsors of the day announced so far include Panasonic UK, Camera Corps and Presteigne Broadcast Hire, with support also pledged from ARRI, Aerial Vue, Portaprompt, SNG and Video Europe.

GTC announces 40th anniversary celebration Posted: 11/01/2012

The GTC will this year celebrate its 40th anniversary in the same city and the same month as its foundation. In May 1972, the inaugural meeting of what would become the Guild of Television Cameramen was held at the Birmingham studios of Associated Television.

GTC announces 2010 award winners at BFI Posted: 04/10/2010
The 37th annual Guild of Television Cameramen Awards event was held at the British Film Institute, London, on September 28. The ceremony celebrated not only the high standards achieved by the award winners during the past year, but also the contribution made by all cameramen to advancing and enhancing their craft.
 
GTC President Dick Hibberd introduced two keynote speakers, Patrick Younge (Chief Creative Officer of BBC Vision Productions) and BBC presenter Nick Knowles.
 
Patrick Younge thanked the cameramen in the audience on behalf of all production staff at the BBC for their dedication: "I salute your perseverance and your craft. What connects all of us is our common commitment to making outstanding programmes. The intention of the BBC is to spend 80p of every £1 of the licence fee on content and ensure that the audience is entertained".

Bill Vinten wins the Guilds TiCA Award for Excellence 2010 Posted: 30/09/2010
Bill Vinten, youngest son of the founder of Vinten®, was presented with the highest honour at last night's Guild of Television Cameramen Awards. The ceremony, held at the prestigious BFI Southbank in London, saw 90 year old Bill Vinten collect the Guild's TiCA Award for his lifetime contribution to fostering and improving the art and craft of the professional television cameraman.

 
Bill Vinten dedicated his award to all of the Vinten employees for their hard work over the years, and their contribution to the company's success. The award marks a momentous year for Vinten as the company recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary, an unprecedented achievement in the film and television industry.

GTC TO PRESENT 2010 AWARDS AT BFI SOUTHBANK, SEPTEMBER 28 Posted: 26/08/2010
The GTC will shortly be celebrating this year's best TV camera-work as nominated by those who really know good camera-work when they see it: television cameramen. GTC Awards are the only awards recognising excellence in television camera-work where the nominees are recommended entirely by their peers. The GTC Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday September 28 at 18.00 at BFI Southbank, London SE1 8XT.

GTC takes to the air March 27 Posted: 25/02/2010
A workshop on Helicopter Shooting and Safety will be held by the Guild of Television Cameramen on Saturday March 27 at Denham Aerodrome, west London. The event will be hosted by broadcaster Mike Smith, founder and Managing Director of Flying TV which owns and operates the only freelance ready-to-go fleet of television helicopters in Europe. Mike will explain the principles of flight and safety, and will cover everything cameramen need to know about working in the air with gyro-mounted and hand-held cameras.

PROKIT hosts LED Lighting Day Posted: 27/10/2009
PROKIT has hosted an Open Day for broadcast, film and video LED Lighting, the first of its kind in the UK. It took place in Prokits Chiswick showroom on Thursday 15th. October 2009. Manufacturers taking part included ARRI, Bebob, Dedo, Element Labs, Litepanels, Lowel and PAG. Visitors were able to see a range of state of the art products from each manufacturer, and make side by side comparisons. Members of the STLD, BSC and GTC attended, as well as two dozen practitioners from the broadcast and video worlds.

Mark Holmes, Business Development Director, said, LED lighting has now come of age in our industry. We wanted to reflect this by having a number of popular as well as emerging concepts available for hands-on evaluation. The day fulfilled those objectives and seemed to delight those who came

The Guild of Television Cameramen (GTC) held its Annual Awards event on 6th October 2009 at BFI Southbank (formally the National Film Theatre) in London.

The awards are unique in that they are nominated by television cameramen, recognising their peers work for excellence in television camera skills. Each Award for Excellence was given in recognition of a cameraman or team working in a particular genre of broadcast television.
