Producing the Formula 1 for TV is, besides the production challenges as such, a logistical tour de force. Production equipment needs to travel around the world preceding the racing circus and must always be on-site and ready for use at the right time.

Reality Check Systems Expands On-Air Creativity for Sky Sport Deutschland F1 and reg; Coverage

In preparation for the 2014 Formula One® (F1) racing season, Reality Check Systems (RCS) upgraded its Uppercut production system for Sky Sport Deutschland as part of a three-year engagement designed to streamline the network's live broadcasts and minimize production overhead. To bring advanced digital video effects (DVE) capabilities to Sky Sport's existing Uppercut system, which RCS originally developed and installed for the network last year, RCS' Steven Heimbold led a five-person team in designing innovative state logic software to simplify 3D DVE transitions and broaden creative graphics capabilities on Uppercut for Sky Sport's remote F1 productions.

Leading facilities and rental company Presteigne Broadcast Hire has won a contract from BBC Sport to provide its on-location technical resources for its coverage of Formula One motorsport. The equipment, which includes the capabilities for live production and delivery as well as fast turnaround editing, packs into three containers for shipping in cargo aircraft.

F1 Indian Grand Prix Broadcast Live with Blackmagic Design

Blackmagic Design today announced BP Satellite Solutions is providing RF camera services to broadcasters televising the FIA Formula One World Championship using Blackmagic broadcast infrastructure products, including the Compact Videohub and Videohub Smart Control. Commentary teams from TV Globo, RTL Germany, ZDF Sport, VIASAT (Sweden, Denmark and Norway) and MTV3 Finland are using the solution to present wirelessly from the F1 paddock, pitlane and starting grid.

RTWs TM3 Supports Loudness Monitoring for RTL Formula One Coverage

RTW, a leading manufacturer and distributor of professional audio metering and control devices for studio recording and radio and TV broadcast applications, is pleased to announce it recently delivered three pre-production units of the new TM3 TouchMonitor to Cologne, Germany-based Wige Broadcast, prior to RTW's official sales launch of the new product. German Broadcaster RTL, which relied on Wige Broadcast's technical infrastructure for this year's Formula One coverage, employed the units during the first Formula One races in Australia and Malaysia, where they passed acid tests.
