Euro Media Group Standardizes on Grass Valley Switchers Ahead of Major Sporting Events

Grass Valley (booth 9.A01) today announced that Euro Media Group (EMG), Europe's leading provider of broadcast facilities and services, has standardized on its GV K-Frame Xvideo production engines as it optimizes production capability ahead of major sporting events – from European football to the largest sports tournament in the world – during 2020. The switchers will be deployed across several EMG-owned companies, including Videohouse (Belgium), CTV (UK), United (the Netherlands), and Euromedia (France), delivering powerful IP-ready functionality. EMG provides production services for numerous high-profile events from sports to music industry awards.

Grass Valley's GV K-Frame X was chosen for its powerful toolset and innovative roadmap. The system gives EMG the flexibility to support a diverse range of live production requirements. The switchers will be deployed in four new OB trucks and as part of an upgrade to two existing units. The K-Frame X delivers the largest 4KI/O footprint in the industry and offers a cost-effective and powerful path to all IP connections, all SDI or hybrid IP/SDI. It also allows the flexibility to work with the Kayenne, Karrera or GV Korona control surfaces.

Ronald Meyvisch, Chief Technology Officer, Euro Media Group commented: "As we support the needs of our growing business and meet the rise in demand for live content, it is crucial to deliver powerful, flexible and future-ready workflows that can handle a range of live production set-ups to fit into our OBjective 2020 strategy of modularity and scalability. As a group comprising the leading OB companies across Europe, standardized workflows allow us to ensure greater efficiency across the organization. Grass Valley was able to demonstrate an innovative roadmap with some exciting features and capabilities that will support our continued growth. We have a long working relationship and their team is always willing to work with us in a collaborative way to deliver solutions that align with the needs of our business.”

The K-Frame X also gives EMG the capability to seamlessly support HD, 1080p, high dynamic range video and 4K UHD for the ultimate flexibility – without adding complexity to existing workflows.

Mark Hilton, vice president of live production, Grass Valley added: “We are very proud that EMG has once again turned to Grass Valley solutions as they springboard into the next phase of growth. As audiences for sports and live events become more global, demand for captivating viewing experiences is rising and our OB and broadcast services customers now need to leverage solutions that deliver the flexibility, power and agility to meet the needs of an ever more diverse range of production needs. Grass Valley is now the de facto choice of the world’s leading OB providers – we work with customers to deliver solutions that meet their specific needs, freeing them up to focus on delivering unmatched content.”
