EditShare Announces Suite of Solutions for Adobe Premiere Pro Enterprise Post-Production Workflows

EditShare®, a technology leader that specializes in collaboration, security, and intelligent storage solutions for media creation and management, will showcase Helmut FX, IO, CO (Cosmo), and HK (Housekeeper), solutions designed to enable extensive project administration, back-office management and render farm control for Adobe® Premiere® Pro enterprise post-production workflows. Premiere Pro is an industry leader in video editing. The Helmut family of solutions will be demonstrated at IBC2019 from September 13th through September 17th (stand 7.A35).

Using a highly efficient, user-friendly node-based approach to workflow configuration called ‘Streams Engine’, Helmut facilitates critical back-office functions such as encoding, migration, render farm control and other housekeeping technical tasks for Premiere Pro based post-production workgroups. Seamlessly integrated with EditShare Flow media asset management, the flexible Helmut and Flow north-bound API architecture enable a high degree of customization, empowering enterprise deployments to efficiently automate both creative workflows as well as complex and redundant ‘under-the-hood’ technical jobs, optimizing overall productions.

“With the increasing number of new content-delivery options, the demand for adverts, snackable content and high-quality programming has surged and, in turn, has significantly expanded content creation opportunities across the post-production market. However, as opportunities grow, so do the pressures on these video professionals to create and deliver significantly more, higher quality content, faster than ever before,” comments Tracy Geist, Chief Marketing Officer, EditShare. “Helmut, combined with EditShare Flow, puts the focus back on storytelling with optimizations at every step across the Adobe workflow. By eliminating complexities and elevating collaboration, EditShare gives a much longer runway for post facilities to create and deliver even more high-quality projects.”

The Expanded Helmut Product Family on Display at IBC2019:

  • - The HelmutFX software solution connects Premiere Pro and storage environments, simplifying production management and streamlining working processes. Adding a layer of control and automation, HelmutFX manages a broad range of administrative and organizational tasks, communicating with third-party systems (ingest, archive, backup, MAM, PAM, etc.) to reduce complexity and improve workflows, so editors have more time to focus on the creative aspects of production.
  • - An innovative new rendering workflow developed for Adobe Media Encoder, HelmutIO manages rendering resources on the network, identifying idle and unused CPUs or servers and automatically exporting and assigning clips and sequences from Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects® projects, freeing up valuable system time for productive creative work.

HelmutCO (NEW) - Cosmo indexes projects including folder structures, metadata, assets, and sequences before making them available in a database. At the same time, this data is made available in a visually intuitive dashboard for creatives to easily identify and locate content. This companion database enables full synchronization between Premiere Pro projects and third-party systems without users needing to open Premiere Pro.
style="mso-special-character:line-break">

HelmutHK (NEW) - Housekeeper is directly connected to Cosmo, utilizing the extensive metadata to delete, move, archive and manage projects and project-related assets. Tasks can be automated, performed manually or set to run at a specific time. HelmutHK can also distribute these tasks across HelmutIO’s render nodes in scenarios where both products are being used in tandem.

QComm Demystifies $150 million LPTV Repack Question Posted: 21/02/2020
QComm Demystifies $150 million LPTV Repack Question

QCommunications is a leading engineering, project management and installation vendor specializing in The Spectrum Act (REPACK project). According to Tony zumMallen, QComm President, data analytics support a higher allocation than expected.

“As of February 17, 2020, ~95% or $142M could be attributed to 825 Eligible and Non-Determined stations,” expained zumMallen. “If the trend holds this would be a much higher than expected allocation and a sigh of relief for hundreds of LPTV and translator licencees.”

“So many LPTV broadcasters are inexperienced in the complexity of the application procedure required to determine their eligibility for reimbursement,” zumMallen continued. “At QComm, we not only assist with the entire REPACK process – from needs assessment to transmitter installation to coverage verification - we help broadcasters navigate the paper path and meet all the requirements for reimbursement. We’ve already helped process many millions of dollars and 95% of our LPTV clients have been deemed eligible. And one of the best parts is that our REPACK services are covered for reimbursement, so there is little risk to the broadcaster!”

The Spectrum Act, or REPACK as it is more familiarly known, was designed to re-align the use of broadcast airwaves to suit rapidly evolving consumer demands due to the emergence of divergent entertainment and communications platforms, such as mobile data and the Internet. The shift to new territory allocations and channel assignments has resulted in the need for stations to upgrade, change or redistribute transmission equipment causing significant expenditures that the FCC is relieving with the appropriation of reimbursement funds available to broadcasters that comply with the FCC’s requirements. As part of its service offerings, QComm will assist the customer through the entire process, ensuring they meet eligibility guidelines to receive reimbursements, which could be 100%.

Cobalt Iron Compass Enterprise SaaS Backup Solution Now Offers Powerful NAS Backup

Cobalt Iron Inc., today announced the extension for its Compass™ enterprise SaaS backup platform that offers advanced protection for network-attached storage (NAS) data. Compass delivers the industry's most efficient and comprehensive approach to NAS backup and recovery via a powerful proxy capability called the Compass NAS Agent.

"In today's enterprises, tremendous amounts of business-critical data are held in NAS systems. The amount of stored NAS data and the urgency to protect it is constantly growing; however, NAS backup and recovery techniques haven't improved much over the years," said Greg Tevis, vice president of Global Strategy at Cobalt Iron. "Compared to traditional NAS schemes such as NDMP, which can be operationally challenging and often results in massive amounts of data being stored for backups, our NAS data protection extension offers a new and modern approach. Using the Compass NAS Agent, Compass is a faster, more efficient, and easier-to-manage solution for backing up billions of files and providing unified protection of critical NAS data."

With expansive product lines supporting 4K, 12G, HDR, and IP workflows, FOR-A Corporation of America will offer a “World of Possibilities” to attendees at the 2020 NAB Show (Booth C5016) in April in Las Vegas, Nev. New IP Workflows Take Centre Stage In Eight Different Countries as Axon and rsquo;s PRE-NABSHOW TOUR 2020 Hits The Road

Axon’s proven Neuron IP processing and Cerebrum control & monitoring technology will be demonstrated with equipment from EVS, Sony, Arista, Calrec and Meinberg during this 22-day Outside Broadcast truck tour.

The Axon PRE-NABSHOW TOUR 2020, which runs across 16 locations in eight different European countries, kicks off on March 2nd. It allows broadcasters to experience tomorrow’s workflows by getting on board today. The products demonstrated on the truck will be exactly the same as those on display at Axon’s booth at NAB, so this will also provide a perfect opportunity for people who are not going to Las Vegas to get up-close and personal with Axon’s solutions.

With New FOR-A HVS-2000 Switcher and ClassXGraphics, WLVT-TV Improves Production Workflows and On-Air Look Posted: 19/02/2020
With New FOR-A HVS-2000 Switcher and ClassXGraphics, and nbsp;WLVT-TV Improves Production Workflows and On-Air Look

FOR-A Corporation of America today announced PBS39/WLVTTV, part of Lehigh Valley Public Media based in Bethlehem, Penn., upgraded its control room last August with a FOR-A HVS-2000 HANABI video production switcher and ClassX broadcast graphics system. The new equipment has improved the on-air look of the station’s original programming as well as its live production workflows.

For example, the HVS-2000 can load and playback graphics from the ClassX, so the TD can access them during live productions. As a result, PBS39’s graphics designer does not have to be in the control room for “routine” productions. “When I saw how well the two integrated together, plus the price, it seemed like an obvious choice,” said Andrea Cummis, chief technology officer.

The ClassX also supports the use of RSS feeds for updating election results and other data in graphics, a feature that was not supported by the station’s older graphics system. Cummis said the system “worked great” for local primary election coverage last year, but she is looking forward to using the system to its full potential for Election Night in November.

GB Labs to feature Mosaic and CORE.4 Lite at CABSAT 2020 Posted: 19/02/2020
GB Labs to feature Mosaic and CORE.4 Lite at CABSAT 2020

CABSAT 2020, Dubai, 31 March - 2 April 2020, Stand G3-24: Leaders in intelligent storage solutions, GB Labs, will showcase its award-winning Mosaic automatic asset organiser and the new CORE.4 Lite operating system during CABSAT 2020 at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 31 March – 2 April.

The Mosaic asset organiser makes it far easier to quickly search for, retrieve, and view video assets. Mosaic automatically scans all inbuilt metadata and integrates it with AI tagging enabling the ability to store, catalogue and access assets with no need for manual intervention, making it a substantial time and money saver.

GB Labs new CORE.4 Lite operating system is a custom OS specifically designed to serve media files. Its high degree of speciality guarantees stable performance for every user, whether as workgroups or individuals, while maximising the efficiency of every disk.

A powerful new feature included with CORE.4 Lite is Analytics Centre, a dashboard that runs in the background of GB Labs intelligent storage devices and continuously analyses the network, providing complete visibility of exactly how, and by whom, data is being used.

GB Labs CEO-CTO Dominic Harland said, “Read/write speeds are usually compromised by a misconfigured network, which wastes resources. But configuration issues can be difficult to locate and resolve manually. Analytics Centre automatically analyses the read/write process through the network with specially designed algorithms that identifies, locates, and suggests how to resolve any issues, often before they occur, thereby eliminating the need for painstaking manual intervention.”

GB Labs will also demonstrate how its proprietary Dynamic Bandwidth Control identifies and selects high, medium, and low priority users to guarantee that the storage system automatically adjusts to operate at peak performance for all.

According to Harland, “Dynamic Bandwidth Control makes storage malleable to ensure it can flexibly respond to changes in usage priorities without breaking. This is unique to GB Labs and can be implemented whether storage is in use by one user or an entire workgroup.”

For backup and archiving, the exhibition stand workspaces will be coupled with GB Labs EasyLTO, an easy-to-use, cost-effective, all-in-one, high-speed solution.

Finally, the company will also discuss the success of recent GB Labs deployments to new customers including M for Media; Qatl Al Youm TV; Polimer TV; Craft; Kalvi TV; and Madha TV.
