Dejero Unveils Two HEVC Products for High Quality, Low Latency Picture Delivery

Dejero, an innovator in blending IP networks for video transport and Internet connectivity while mobile or in remote locations, has announced the addition of two new products to support HEVC (H.265) encoding and decoding. Dejero PathWay and Dejero WayPoint enable the use of HEVC video compression in support of remote and mobile broadcasting, a feature that is particularly relevant to on-location teams working with limited bandwidth.

Were leveraging the efficiencies of HEVC while applying novel techniques such as real-time adaptive bitrate control and our unique auto-transport technology where resolution can be changed on the fly, within the transmission, said Bill Nardi, VP broadcast integration and global support at Dejero. Using HEVC, Dejero can enable video transmission with as little bandwidth as 1 Mb/s, or even less, and still deliver good picture quality.

The first two products to support Dejeros HEVC technology are the Dejero PathWay rack-mounted encoder/transmitter, and the Dejero WayPoint receiver. The 1U PathWay is designed for installation in vehicles or fixed locations. Its available in two different configurations: an Ethernet configuration that includes two Ethernet ports for satellite (Ku- and Ka-band, BGAN) or wired IP network (LAN/WAN) connectivity; and an Ethernet and cellular configuration offering up to six cellular connections.

PathWay supports both HEVC and AVC (H.264) encoding, providing automatic detection and immediate backwards compatibility with existing or legacy AVC-based Dejero receivers. The encoder/transmitter, which contains internal Wi-Fi, is also compatible with the recently launched Dejero CellSat blended cellular and satellite solution.

WayPoint is a four output 1U receiver, that supports HEVC decodes to SDI or IP (MPEG-TS over IP) playout workflows. It also supports AVC decoding of feeds from legacy transmitters. It comes with dual redundant power supplies and data redundant RAID storage capabilities.

By supporting HEVC compression, we can further enhance picture quality when broadcasting with limited bandwidth and deliver a better viewer experience, concluded Nardi.

Both PathWay and WayPoint can be managed centrally from Dejero Control, the companys cloud-based management system that is accessible from a browser.

Grupo Imagen Prepares for Major National Network Expansion with EditShare Posted: 18/01/2018

EditShare, a technology leader in intelligent shared storage and media management solutions, announced that Mexico-based media conglomerate Grupo Imagen is implementing EditShare XStream EFS 450 scale out production storage, XStream EFS 40NL parking storage, and Flow media asset management to support content automation and fast turn-around workflows. Grupo Imagen was recently awarded a nationwide broadcast television license that expands its current broadcast network to over 190 transmission sites with its multiplex signal across the Mexican national territory. The opportunity requires the broadcaster to build out a network of brick and mortar stations in some of the major cities across Mexico, and thus reinforce its Mexico City hub with an infrastructure that can support connected workflows. The installation of EditShare will aid in the production of the broadcasters telenovelas and news packages; providing a tiered storage environment for fast online production and parking storage with automation that moves media across post production systems and third-party storage platforms, optimizing collaboration and media sharing across workgroups.
