Custom Consoles Module-R Desks Chosen for One of the Worlds Largest News Agencies

Custom Consoles announces the completion of control room desks and multiscreen monitor display mounts for the London studios of one of the world's largest news agencies. The desks were provided in partnership with broadcast system integrator ATG Danmon.

"Control room furniture is an important part of every major contract,\" comments ATG Danmon Managing Director Russell Peirson-Hagger. "Bespoke designs tend to be expensive and require very detailed specification. We commissioned all four desks by selecting optimal elements from Custom Consoles' established Module-R series. Our clients appreciate the robust build quality, excellent ergonomics and timeless styling of Module-R. The Module-R range is also well thought out in terms of cable ducting, equipment access and ventilation."

Three of the desks are located in the larger of two production control galleries. Occupying front right is a nine-bay four-seat desk with an embedded Ross vision mixer. Seven 3U high equipment pods with 45 degree sloping fronts are positioned immediately behind the main work surface. Behind these are 10 computer screens mounted on individually adjustable Ergotron support arms.

At front left is a six-bay dual-operator desk with an integrated Allen & Heath audio console. The middle two bays accommodate 3U sloping-front equipment pods. Five monitor screens are mounted along the rear, again on adjustable Ergotron support arms.

A three-seat six-bay wide journalist desk is located on a raised floor behind the main production desk. Bays one, three and five are fitted with a sloping-front 3U equipment pod. Six monitor screens are mounted along the rear.

The fourth desk is housed in a second production gallery. This is a 10-bay unit configured with graphics, vision mixing, news computer and Panasonic robotic camera control positions. 3U high sloping-front equipment pods are positioned along the entire width of the desk except across bays 3 and 4 which house a Ross vision mixer and at bay 10 which accommodates an Allen & Heath audio console.

All four desks have slate grey Marmoleum worktops and are finished in black with grey side panels. Each desk faces multiscreen video monitors mounted on horizontal support beams from Custom Consoles' MediaWall series.

"We are very pleased to note the continuing popularity of the Module-R series,\" adds Custom Consoles Managing Director Neil Reed. "A key feature of that success has been the easy access it provides to on-board equipment via knee-level access doors along the front of each desk. That is particularly important in the many situations where desks are positioned directly in front of a wall."
