DPA Microphones Bring Clarity and Subtlety to the Cajn Drum Posted: 10/04/2017
DPA Microphones Bring Clarity and Subtlety to the Cajn Drum
The all-wooden box drum, or cajn may be the worlds most popular percussion instrument, yet it is also one of the hardest to amplify because it produces sharp bursts of sound energy (transients) when played. Finding microphones that really capture the subtle woodsy tone and transient-rich sound of his cajn was proving something of a challenge for percussionist David Mortara until he discovered the DPA d:dicate¢ range.

With DPA Microphones latest appearances on Tosh.0, a Comedy Central improv-style show primarily focused on poking fun at web-based video content, the brand continues to solidify itself as the top miking solution for the film and television industry. The 86th Annual Academy Awards in Perfect Harmony with DPA Microphones

As all eyes were fixated on the actors who graced the stage of the 86th Annual Academy Awards® at the Dolby Theatre® on Sunday night, audiences ears were tuned to the musical accompaniments of the shows orchestra, which performed remotely from Capitol Records. Since the piano was positioned among the noisy percussion instruments, the shows Orchestra Mixer and Orchestra Setup Coordinator needed a way to isolate its sound. To accomplish this for the piano, the duo used a combination of DPA Microphones d:dicate¢ 4011A Cardioid Microphones and d:vote¢ 4099 Instrument Microphones. He also positioned a pair of d:dicate 4011E Hanging Microphones for the orchestras drum kit.
