In the countdown to the inaugural BVE North, Holdan is pleased to announce that BlackMagic Design's product range will be on show. Now fully supporting Media Composer 6, BlackMagic has the largest range of 3rd party Avid hardware tools of any manufacturer.
With version 6, Avid's Media Composer works with BlackMagic Design's capture and playback devices on both Mac and Windows platforms. Similarly, DaVinci Resolve 8.1 has now also full AAF round trip with the latest version of Media Composer. This added functionality is enabled by Blackmagic's Desktop Video 9.0, available to download now from the Blackmagic Design web site. This includes its PCIe, Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 products as well as the 3D-enabled DeckLink HD Extreme, taking advantage of Media Composer's new stereoscopic toolset. BlackMagic's announcement goes beyond device support with Media Composer.
Its own DaVinci Resolve 8.1 now has full AAF round trip with Media Composer 6, and lets users directly open Avid editing sequences in Resolve and send them back to Media Composer once grading is complete. Both Media Composer 6 and Resolve can be controlled with the Avid Artist control surface. Sequences can also be moved into Pro Tools for audio editing and mixing, and users can playback their video track using the same BlackMagic hardware. Richard Payne of Holdan said: Support for Media Composer 6 is very significant. Media Composer has a worldwide professional user-base which is likely to welcome the BlackMagic announcement with open arms
