Acclaimed sound designer and re-recording mixer Niv Adiri has chosen NUGEN Audios Halo Upmix to create surround 5.1 versions of the music and sound effects on a wide range of cinema projects. Adiri most recently used Halo Upmix on the current film T2 Trainspotting. With Halo Upmix, he was able to work from stereo source tracks to deliver a 5.1 mix that was true to the original sound of the music, but also sounded ideal in a range of surround listening environments.

CB Electronics ( in cooperation with NTP Technology ( have developed a digital version of the TMC-1 monitor controller TMC-1-Penta, which will be launched at NAB 2015. The TMC-1-Penta communicates with a NTP Penta 720 or DAD AX32 over ethernet using its native protocol either directly or over a network. The software is based on the XMON version of the TMC-1 with a number of enhancements including the ability to control up to 48 channels on its main input/output and an 8 channel wide stem mixer. The flexibility of the NTP Digital interface allows the incorporation of extra features that are not available on Avids XMON.

The 86th Annual Academy Awards in Perfect Harmony with DPA Microphones Posted: 05/03/2014

As all eyes were fixated on the actors who graced the stage of the 86th Annual Academy Awards® at the Dolby Theatre® on Sunday night, audiences ears were tuned to the musical accompaniments of the shows orchestra, which performed remotely from Capitol Records. Since the piano was positioned among the noisy percussion instruments, the shows Orchestra Mixer and Orchestra Setup Coordinator needed a way to isolate its sound. To accomplish this for the piano, the duo used a combination of DPA Microphones d:dicate¢ 4011A Cardioid Microphones and d:vote¢ 4099 Instrument Microphones. He also positioned a pair of d:dicate 4011E Hanging Microphones for the orchestras drum kit.
