These features are available as a free download for PIX-E owners. They work with or without the optional PIX-LR audio interface accessory. “We’ve talked to PIX-E users across the map who loved the video assist tools of the PIX 240i product, so we had a great roadmap for bringing this functionality to the 4k PIX-E Series,” said Paul Isaacs, director of product management and design, Sound Devices. “The PIX 240i was the first portable video recorder to offer a practical on-set alternative to computer-based systems for video assist. Now these popular tools are in our PIX-E line.” REMOTE PRODUCTION Nevion technology is being used by Plazamedia, a German producer and production services company, as part of its remote production set-up for coverage of the football chat show Der Volkswagen Doppelpass. Working with its German partner Logic media solutions, Nevion has provided its IP Media Core equipment and VideoIPath management system for production of a show that was previously done via a traditional OB. The system works over standard WAN connectivity and was designed to operate in mixed mode with uncompressed and J2k encoded signals. Jrgen Konrad, IP solution designer at Plazamedia said: “One of the main project drivers was reducing the logistics on location and to streamline the production workflow, but we also wanted to upgrade our facilities as we see a lot of benefits in having an IP based infrastructure.” Nevion eMerge Media Routers and Media Gateways form the backbone for all real time production, control and management signals. The VideoIPath management and orchestration system provides software defined network (SDN) connection management and service monitoring.
