NEWS MANAGE & MONITOR WORKFLOWS STORAGE Quantum used IBC to showcase enhancements to its StorNext-powered Xcellis and Lattus storage offerings. The Xcellis workflow storage now supports animation/ VFX and editorial within a single shared environment and also optimises technology deployments by running media workflow applications within a converged architecture. In addition, the company showed content transcoding and delivery directly from Lattus object storage. GB Labs has partnered with Comprimato, the high- resolution video compression technology company, in order to offer intelligent, resolution-agnostic live transcoding software for its media storage. The tie up is said to improve workflows for Adobe Premiere Pro Creative Cloud users, making a single file available at multiple resolutions. For complicated production workflows, decoding media files saves hours of re-versioning or multiple copy creations to satisfy proxy editing at one end of the production workflow and finishing workflows at the other. “Our technical partnership with Comprimato will greatly enhance the user experience for both Adobe Premiere Pro CC users and those who manage the storage they work from,” said Dominic Harland chief executive of GB Labs CLOUD-BASED VIDEO MANAGEMENT The official media library of the US Department of Defense (DOD) is making video, audio and stills from its archive available to the public via a searchable repository that runs on the Wazee Digital Core cloud-native digital asset management platform. Called Images of Freedom, the online store provides access to more than a million artefacts captured by the US military dating back to before World War II. Wazee Digital partnered with developer Rock River to build the Images of Freedom portal. At the same time Wazee Digital has upgraded Core with new functionality that enables content owners and rights holders to publish and manage content on a YouTube channel directly from the Core application, either through an automated workflow or discrete asset selection and publishing. The new version also makes it possible to maintain term structure and consistency across a database for keywords. 34 | KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 118 OCTOBER 2016 ARCHIVE AND STORAGE SGL’s FlashNet archive system now works with Sony’s new Media Backbone NavigatorX MAM system, it was revealed at IBC.
