NEWS MANAGE & MONITOR COMMS ASSET STORAGE A software-defined storage platform designed specifically for broadcast media use will be displayed by Suitcase TV (stand 2.C10) at IBC. The 1RU MediaStor Archive comes with 128 TB of storage and, according to its developers, is designed to “resolve long-term media asset storage problems” by offering a mixture of different storage models. Pliant Technologies, the new professional products division of CoachComm, will show the CrewCom professional wireless intercom product at IBC (stand 11.A02). CrewCom operates on a new proprietary network called CrewNet that coordinates and transports all system timing, audio, signalling and controls and works over standard Cat-5e (or greater) and/or single mode fibre lines. CrewCom wireless products are available in 2.4GHz and 900MHz. Working with RAID-based storage, the Windows-based platform is built on commodity IT hardware and provides options for scalable online, nearline and archive storage at the same time. Suitcase TV technical director David Atkins said: “We’re proud to be a major proponent of what some consider the disruptive advent of IP. Our firm belief is that IP is a more exciting and cost-effective approach and is already displacing traditional broadcast hardware, which suits us just fine, but we also recognise that SDI still has its place.” LOUDNESS MEDIA MANAGEMENT & WORKFLOW Cloud-based workflows, news production workflows and simplifying programme preparation and mastering will be the key factors for Dalet (stand 8.B77) at IBC. For news, highlights will include improvements to the Dalet Galaxy user interfaces including a social media GUI that looks like a social media publishing platform. Integration with the NewTek TriCaster and VidiGo’s multi-camera production system will also be on show. For the cloud there will new Dalet xN marketplace apps that help video exchange and delivery. In terms of prep and mastering, the Dalet Workflow Engine will be the focus. This product is available for both the Dalet Galaxy and Dalet AmberFin platforms. The CLC signal processing algorithm allows users to constantly control and regulate to a given programme loudness value and definable loudness range with minimal obstacles for unknown, live content. The APRO-CLC01 is the first piece of OEM hardware for the CLC algorithm developed in cooperation with the German Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT). RTW will also tout version 4.0 of its Loudness Tools and Mastering Tools software at IBC. The new version adds support for Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan and includes selectable 12th octave RTA, cinema loudness (TASA and SAWA), and free scalable instrument size.
