NEWS CAPTURE & PRODUCE WIRELESS AUDIO CAMERAS At NAB Sony debuted a new camera system for sport production that combines 4K and wide colour space with ultra-high frame rate capabilities. The HDC-4800 can shoot 8x normal speed at 4K, and up to 16x in full HD and includes dynamic cut-out function and zoom capabilities. It works with the BPU-4800 baseband processor unit, which doubles up as a replay server. The manufacturer has also launched an XDCAM shoulder-mount 4K camcorder with a new 2/3-type Exmor R CMOS sensor. The PXW-Z450 has a high zoom ratio and deep depth of field and can be used with B4-mount lenses without the need for an adapter. It supports multi-format recording, allowing users to shoot at 1080p HD and switch over to 4K 59.94p when needed. The PXW-Z450 also supports XAVC Intra, XAVC Long and MPEG HD422. NAB also saw the launch of three new switchers, the XVS-6000, XVS-7000, XVS-8000, and a new client monitor, the PVM-X550. NAB 2016 marks the US launch of Sennheiser’s brand-new EK 6042 slot-in camera receiver, which was previewed earlier at IBC. The true- diversity, two-channel EK 6042 can work with analogue and digital Sennheiser transmitters or – a world first – a mix thereof, across a bandwidth of 184 MHz. It is an ideal partner to Sennheiser’s top-of-the- range Digital 9000 series and all analogue transmitters that feature HiDyn plus or HDX companders. The EK 6042 auto-configures for these transmitters via IR, saving set-up time and hassle for broadcast and filming crews who place a high value on sound quality and wireless reliability. LENSES SWITCHERS Ross Video has added two new products to its switcher range. The Carbonite Black Solo is a compact vision mixer with nine inputs and six outputs that has been designed for small studios, flight packs or as a back-up switcher. The Carbonite Black Plus is a souped up version of the Carbonite Black that includes 36 inputs that each have frame synchronisers, format converters, colour correction and Proc amps. Ross has also developed a camera system designed for green screen virtual reality production. Called Acid, it incorporates a new signal format that was developed by Ross to overcome the difficulties of creating good chroma keys. At NAB Fujifilm North America debuted the Fujinon UA13x4.5, a wide angle UHD lens designed for use with 2/3-inch 4K ENG cameras and camcorders. “The UA13’s superb wide angle capabilities are a result of our latest optical simulation software, which was used to model the UA13’s large diameter aspherical elements,” said Thom Calabro, director of marketing and product development for the Optical Division of Fujifilm. “The lens has a multi-group zoom system that suppresses image distortion and ensures that 4K UHD images remain consistent and accurate from centre to corner, no matter how tight or wide the shot is.” Also launched at NAB were two 4K zoom box lenses, the UA80x9 1.2 EXT and the UA107x8.4. 8 | KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 113 MAY 2016
