NEWS MANAGE & MONITOR Test and Measurement PHABRIX is making a big splash at NAB with its new Qx platform targeted at UHDTV1/4K and UHDTV2/8K test and measurement. Having previewed the Qx in many broadcast manufactures world-wide, this innovative British company will have two meeting rooms dominating its stand this year. Paul Nicholls, Marketing Director explained, ‘The reason we have invested so much at NAB is because the Qx technology offers unique T&M tools for manufacturers creating products supporting IP interfaces and SDI up to 12Gbps. Given the unprecedented reaction at IBC where we struggled to cope with demand, the NAB stand has been specifically designed for us to meet with the leading broadcast developers now working in UHDTV. The Qx offers a unique solution for both physical layer analysis and signal compliance and comes as standard with support for 12Gbps and beyond.’ The company has also been developing both its portable and rackmount instruments. The PHABRIX SxE, still the most popular hand held in broadcasting today, will be on show. The PHABRIX multi interface TAG too with its complete solution from analogue to 3G-SDI with SFP support for optical has a new HDMI EDID SFP option. The Rx rackmount continues to impress for quality control, OB support and broadcast engineering bays and with the release of version V9.04 software at NAB, the Rx offers new enhanced closed caption monitoring and line detect tools. Add its increasing support for both video and audio T&M and the Rx becomes a compelling one box solution at a very cost effective price point. Storage Facilis will use NAB (booth SL8811) to showcase enhancements to its TerraBlock shared storage system including SSD (Solid State Drive) technology, which has been incorporated within the Hybrid24 and SSD8 products. The integration of SSD technology increases the available shared bandwidth for heavy 4K and other high resolution production workflows. “By combining the best of traditional spinning disk technology with enterprise-class SDDs, a hybrid solution offers the best of both worlds and gives users the ability to dynamically assign volumes where performance matters most,” the company said. Capacity increases have also been announced across the model line, along with price reductions. Also on show will be the Facilis FastTracker, an application designed for cataloguing, searching and viewing media within Facilis shared storage. Workflow monitoring Marquis Broadcast will launch Medway Monitoring at NAB (booth SL8730). The new application can monitor multiple Medway systems through a web server, allowing users to get a live health check of Avid and Medway workflows from anywhere in the world. Chris Steele, managing director, Marquis Broadcast said: “Complex workflows are hampered by time consuming and repetitive operations brought on by a variety of formats. Medway is a flexible media and metadata workflow automation solution which eliminates file incompatibilities. By providing transfer and format conversion workflows for video, audio, data and metadata, Medway allows for the exchange of media and metadata between broadcast systems in a fast, transparent and cost effective way, enabling its users to operate complete file based workflow in mixed format environments.” 24 | KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 112 APRIL 2016
