NEWS CAPTURE & PRODUCE Camera support QVC, the shopping channel operator, has installed a complete 32-camera control system from Shotoku Broadcast Systems in its US broadcast facility in West Chester, Pennsylvania. “Shotoku has consistently demonstrated to QVC that the technology meets the unique needs of our live broadcast operations and growing global business,” said Joseph Micucci, vice president of global broadcast engineering for QVC US. “As we’ve expanded our relationship, the support structure and customer service remains constant in each of the markets in which we operate.” The TR-T and TR-XT control systems provide the operators with fingertip control of all the cameras and the ability to adjust the camera position at any time. QVC has standardised its operations on Shotoku’s TG-19 heavy duty Pan and Tilt head. Batteries Switronix will be showcasing the latest additions to its Hypercore battery series, the Hypercore SLIM and Hypercore Prime, at NAB (booth C10248). The Hypercore Prime employs a two-part system that provides a higher-capacity, air-travel-friendly battery offering that allows it to be legally transported without restrictions under IATA, ICAO and UN regulations. The battery separates into two 95Wh (watt hour) pieces for legal transportation. It is suitable for the ARRI Alexa and Amira, RED Epic, Sony F65 and Phantom. The Hypercore SLIM is capable of handling high-draw loads, making it ideal for UAV, Handheld Gimbal and all other applications demanding a low-profile battery pack. Location sound Sound Devices will use NAB (booth C6040) to showcase the 688, its 12-input, 16-track portable mixer/recorder, as well as two accessories: the optional SL-6 powering and wireless system, and the CL-12 linear fader controller. “Today’s audio professionals face greater expectations for more mics, feeds, and audio channels, amidst tighter time constraints and fast-paced schedules,” said Matt Anderson, chief executive of Sound Devices. “The 688 and SL-6 combine with slot-in receivers to provide unprecedented powering and wireless control, while nearly eliminating all excess cables in a sound mixer’s bag. Now, add the CL-12 to the 688, and the portable mixer instantly becomes a fully cohesive cart-based audio recording system with expanded mixing capabilities.” Wireless cameras VidOvation has launched two new products in its VidOlink family of long- range wireless transmission systems: the VidOlink Ranger2 and the VidOlink Tally & Control. The VidOlink Ranger2 is a lower- cost long-range transmission system that can transmit wireless HD video as far as two miles. The VidOlink Tally & Control is a complementary means of adding tally and camera control unit (CCU) functionality to new or existing wireless camera systems.
