NEWS MANAGE & MONITOR Storage and archive SGL has announced a new version of its FlashNet content management system and support for LTO-7. The updated FlashNet supports reading and restoring from SMPTE’s Archive eXchange Format (AXF) and allows customers to allocate a pre-defined number of drives within their library for a specific role, such as archiving Avid jobs only, or restoring/ archiving material at a certain time of day. The latter will allow larger broadcasters with multiple drives to further improve operational procedures. Support for the LTO- 7 specifications enables tape cartridge native storage capacity of over 6TB, which is more than twice the compressed capacity of the previous generation. Test & Measurement PHABRIX at BVE London this year led with the latest software release for its innovative Rx rack mount range. V9.04 adds combined video and audio toolset to the extensive in picture instruments of this increasingly popular rackmount designed for engineering bay, QC and OB environments. The Rx was presented in three chassis types, the 2U Rx 2000 with dual integrated screens and the 1U Rx 1000 and the half rack 1U Rx 500. Each chassis displays instruments via SDI or usefully by HDMI at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The ability to display up to 20 instruments simultaneously on each of the 4 channel inputs has not gone unnoticed by the broadcast networks. The release of V9.04 coincides with the installation of a major system into one of Malaysia’s primary networks as a QC solution. The Sx range hand held was also on display. The PHABRIX SxE with its on board eye and jitter toolsets continues to succeed with its unrivalled multi format generator incorporated within the analyser and monitoring toolsets with full physical layer analysis. Comms The MediorNet MicroN was on show at the Riedel Communications stand during Cabsat in Dubai. MicroN is an 80G media distribution network device for Riedel’s MediorNet line of media transport and management products. It is said to provide greater flexibility when building media infrastructures, from signal transport to full video router functionality, including signal processing. Also on show was the Tango TNG-200 networked platform supporting RAVENNA/AES67 and AVB and the RSP-2318 Smartpanel. At the same time, former Wall Street Communications account director Joe Commare has been appointed as marketing and sales manager for North America and Rick Seegull has become the company’s manager of systems consultants. Seegull most recently served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Aurora Multimedia. The TAG with its SDI and analogue toolsets and fibre optic support has found a new following from many pro video engineers and has been further enhanced for both MSA and non MSA SFP support. The latest addition to the SFP’s supported is a useful HDMI EDID display. The PHABRIX Qx UHDTV1/4k and UHDTV2/8K combined generator/ analyser at BE was a must see. Developed using the very latest FPGA technology, PHABRIX once again provides a unique solution to the broadcast industry’s latest trend – 4k and 8K. MAM Tedial will introduce a media factory workflow at NAB (booth N5516). Tedial Version Factory supports millions of file input-to-output configurations and can be managed from a single operator screen. It is designed to work with content management, rights management, traffic and work order systems for automated operations and stacks chosen media engines (transcoders, quality control, DRM, CDN, etc.). It also employs SMPTE standardised designs for future proof N-input to N-output operations. The company will also highlight its newly released Evolution BPM (Business Process Management) workflow engine. Jay Batista, Tedial general manager, North American operations, said: “Version Factory and Evolution BPM are light years ahead of traditional workflow solutions and provide our customers with an exponential measure of efficiency and path to profitability.” 26 | KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 111 MARCH 2016 TV-BAY111MARCH_Book.indb 26 11/03/2016 17:17
