Mini-convertors Cobalt Digital will go to NAB with a new family of fibre-optic options in both the openGear format and the Blue Box Group (BBG) mini-converter boxes. The new openGear debuts include the 9433 series audio embedder/de-embedder cards which will be available in a single-channel, unidirectional EO-to-OE configuration and as a dual-channel, bidirectional EO/OE transport offering. The BBG products will include MK2 versions that support Cobalt’s BBGConfig software for setup and status-monitoring over USB. The convertors will be available in 3G/HD/SD-SDI/ASI/MADI single and dual variants for both transmit and receive with options also added for Optical Signal Regenerator and Transceiver. Broadcast audio Digital audio Junger Audio has launched a new range of cards for its modular C8000 audio processing system. “The new boards incorporate a number of improvements that make the conversion of previously common configurations much more straightforward,” said Jnger Audio chief executive Peter Poers. “The main difference between the C8092, C8492 and C8492B boards lies in the scalable audio processing circuits for up to 16 channels including two surround programs. This gives the performance and power of four of the previous DSP cards in one new DSP card, along with the availability of an integrated 3G/HD/SD-SDI interface.” To coincide with the release of the new boards, Junger Audio will be phasing out some of its older, obsolete models including the C8086+, the C8087 and some of the Dolby cards. Russia’s Television Technical Centre Ostankino (TTC) has installed five more Calrec digital audio consoles as part of its continued effort to upgrade studios in its Moscow facility. Various Russian broadcast companies, including Channel One, Technostyle, and NTV Plus, use the studios. “We recommended that TTC install Calrec consoles because Calrec is known for its operational reliability and system redundancy,” said Roman Katrovsky, sound specialist for OKNO-TV, the Russian system integrator that supplied and installed the consoles. “These consoles give TTC the flexibility to accommodate any number of broadcasters and their various requirements - for both studio recordings and live production - all in 5.1.” TTC has installed Apollo consoles in eight of its studios, each with a companion Artemis console that can be used on the studio floor for tasks such as mixing a band or a live audience.
