NEWS MOVE & DELIVER Video compression NRK, the Norwegian public broadcaster, has installed Thomson Video Networks (TVN) ViBE EM4000 video compression technology as part of an upgrade of its broadcast infrastructure. Working with a TVN NetProcessor multiplexer and a MediaFlex (SUITE) network management system, the ViBE EM4000 provides four-channel density for NRK’s satellite, terrestrial, cable, and IPTV operations, encompassing 50 MPEG-4 HD channels. AoIP Delivery and distribution Globecast has appointed former Orange Group executive Philippe Bernard as its new chairman and chief executive, succeeding Olivier Barberot. In his new role Bernard will be tasked with positioning the company as a “fully global and integrated media solutions provider that addresses the changing needs of markets and customers.” Bernard joins the independent teleport operator and satellite services provider from the Orange Group, where had served as EVP of quality, customer experience and sales since July 2013. He joined Orange as vice president of Orange Business Solutions and went on to take over the European Sales and Customer Relations Division. Before that he was chief executive of Transpac. 2wcom Systems has joined the RAVENNA partner community led by ALC NetworX in Munich. Developed in response to a growing need for a reliable audio networking technology, RAVENNA is an open standard for the real-time transport of audio and other media data in IP-based network environments. It operates on most existing network infrastructures using standard networking technology, offering low latency, full signal transparency and high reliability, together with scalable performance and capacity. “RAVENNA is the best standard for audio-over-IP interoperability, and the market leader in our field,” said Werner Drews, founder and managing director of 2wcom. “By joining the community we have also satisfied customer demand for RAVENNA compliance in our products particularly the MM01 solution for audio-over-IP contribution and distribution.” Media over IP Media Global Links has appointed Michael Antonovich to the newly created position of senior vice president, global sales. In his new job Antonovich will have full P&L and management responsibilities over Media Links sales operations worldwide, including its subsidiaries in EMEA, the Americas and Australia.
