NEWS MOVE & DELIVER Live IP Video Dejero has launched the LIVE+ Transceiver, a combination encoder/ decoder for transporting IP video. Accepting IP inputs and feeding IP outputs at the same time, it can be used to contribute and receive HD live content across Dejero’s LIVE+ Multipoint IP video distribution network. Brian Cram, the chief executive of Dejero, said: “Broadcast facilities can now use the transceiver as both a source and a destination to exchange high-quality live video, without the expense of a separate encoder and decoder.” Broadcast & Production Services (BPS) supplies Dejero in the UK. In other news, Dejero has also released an update to its LIVE+ NewsBook software for Mac notebooks that enables users to bond portable Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) terminals to produce a live stream at 1 Mbps. Live IP video Playout Basmedia, the playout service provider, used Ateme’s TITAN Live to aid the launch of the HEVC Ultra High Definition (UHD) service Festival 4k in France. TITAN Live is a virtualised software-based encoder-transcoder, with support for HEVC, H264 and MPEG2. “Basmedia is always searching for innovative partners to provide solutions for breakthrough channels like Festival 4k,” said Bas Ardesch, founder of Basmedia. “The TITAN Live enables us to offer 4k-UHD services, using COTS servers, while delivering high video quality with high density for our customers.” The NFL’s Carolina Panthers is using TVUPack wireless uplink backpacks to capture and transmit video from post-game press conferences and interviews, as part its weekly Game Day wrap-up show. After evaluating live mobile video options, the Panthers selected TVUPack because of its ease-of-use, low latency and picture quality, the company said. “TVUPack has enabled our organization to instantly connect with our dedicated and loyal fanbase better than ever before,” said Berkley Dickens, broadcast engineer for the Carolina Panthers. “Most recently, we used the TVUPack for an away game on the opposite side of the country and once again, we were blown away by the picture quality, transmission speed and one-button operation of the pack.” Live video over IP Dejero has been named in the 2015 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 list of Canada’s fastest-growing technology companies. The Fast 50 celebrates leadership, innovation, and excellence in the technology sector. At the same time the company has also been named in Deloitte’s broader 2015 North American Technology Fast 500 ranking of the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in North America.
