Video encoding Basketball team the Orlando Magic has installed a Vitec IPTV Sports Venue set-up as part of an upgrade to its digital signage system at its Amway Centre home arena. Included is EZ TV IPTV middleware, HD blade encoders and Vitec’s IPTV set-top-boxes. The installation sees the arena’s video and signage systems - consisting of more than 1,000 displays - replaced with a hybrid set-up that includes IPTV and dedicated digital signs. “It gave us the best video quality, streaming latency performance, and intuitive TV experience for Club and Founders Level suites,” said Jeff Lutes, vice president of information technology for the Orlando Magic. “We are confi dent our fans will enjoy the upgraded experience.” The EZ TV system automates the delivery of instant replays during matches and gives supporters the chance to play back action on-demand. It manages 20 live channels and an additional 60 broadcast cable channels, sending them to the 300+ set-top boxes throughout the venue. Content also goes out to 700 Four Winds digital signage screens. Stream At CCW in New York, Triveni Digital will showcase HEVC functionality for its StreamScope MT-50 real-time DTV transport stream analysis and troubleshooting tool. StreamScope allows broadcasters to pinpoint and resolve video, audio, and closed caption impairments in the transport stream, ensuring superior quality of service for viewers. The video monitoring system supports a broad range of video compression schemes, from HEVC to H.264 and MPEG-2, allowing a smooth transition to an all-HEVC infrastructure. The new HEVC capability is available for all versions of the StreamScope MT-50, including the StreamScope Portal, a portable, touchscreen tablet-based analyser, and the StreamScope MT-50 HDT, which offers a 10GigE interface option and a 16:9 HD touchscreen.
