Asset management TMD has introduced Chameleon, the company’s new approach to user interfaces, a cross-browser development that, as the name suggests, adapts to each users needs, presenting just the relevant information. “I spend much of my time talking to [people], who are either planning or implementing major asset and workfl ow management systems,” said Tony Taylor, chief executive of TMD. “One of their biggest concerns is not whether the system will work, but how they will train their staff on it, and how they will manage the change. What we are doing with Chameleon is taking that issue away. Do not force people to work in a different way, on a system that needs days of training. Give them a screen that intuitively shows them how to do their job and let them get on with it. It seems obvious but TMD is the fi rst to say that the system should be serving the operator, not the other way around.” The Chameleon framework is based on HTML5, enabling complete cross platform support including mobile and tablet devices. www.tmd.tv See interview Kit Plus 91x133.qxp_Layout 1 06/05/2015 10:12 Page 4 Archive and storage management SGL has announced an integration with high-speed fi le transfer software provider Aspera. Using the latest version of SGL’s FlashNet archive technology with Aspera will allow broadcasters and content owners to “quickly and easily” transfer material directly to the cloud from their MAM system, the company said. “Using the cloud for disaster recovery purposes provides a secure and cost-effective place for material that is only likely to be restored in the event of a catastrophic failure,” explained Douglas Wynn, SGL’s VP of sales for the Americas. “We’re delighted to announce this integration with Aspera further highlighting FlashNet’s scalability, resilience, fl exibility and adaptability.” FlashNet’s rules-based implementation provides fully-automated data duplication across multiple storage layers and locations. Using the latest version of FlashNet operators can create additional rules that send material directly to the cloud. The FlashNet archive is able to track and record exactly where material is at any given time regardless of long-term storage method.
