A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd. have been appointed exclusive UK distributor for the Fiilex range of premium performance hard source location LED lighting, which is aimed at professionals in broadcast, studio and film requiring high quality colour tuneable lighting. Manufactured using the very best components and production techniques, Fiilex products are extremely robust, powerful and portable. The range utilises multiple colours of LEDs to produce a spectral curve with significantly less peaks and troughs, resulting in much better colour response on camera than is traditionally experienced from single colour LED light sources. The high quality, colour tuneable (Bi-Colour) light output, which is a much closer emulation of a traditional tungsten source, reduces the likelihood of variation with natural light at a range of colour temperatures between 3,000K and 5,600K. As a result, it produces exceptional colour rendition without aberration on camera, and in all cases the models score in the high 90s on the industry’s TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) measurement scale. Lighting Peli has debuted a new ‘area light’ that is designed for remote locations and OB use. The Peli 9490 lighting system features a 10 LED head that extends above 1.8 metres to allow a wide area light.  The mast can be rotated and the head angled to position the light where required.  Silent, with no cables, the unit has 3 pre-set light levels; high, medium and low, or the user can select their preferred run time, up to 24 hours, with the intelligent control mode. The 9490 is a self-contained, portable system which is said to be easy and quick to set up. By using an exchangeable battery the user can double its run time. Rugged area lights are considered to be a safe, economical and ecological alternative to generator powered lighting. They are often used to light backstage areas, walkways and remote work areas. Zylight will introduce the Newz, a compact on-camera light designed for broadcast news and other run-and-gun shooting applications at NAB (booth C8043). The variable white light includes brightness settings from tungsten (3200K) to daylight (5600K), while a unique articulated arm design allows shooters to easily adjust the height and angle of the light. Designed primarily for ENG and similar remote shoots, the Newz includes custom barn doors and provides a 60-degree beam spread at full width half maximum (FWHM) for a soft falloff around the edges. It also features ZyLink, Zylight’s wireless technology, so it can be linked to multiple Zylights for simultaneous remote control. It features quantum dot technology and proprietary LED chips. “The Newz is not your ordinary on-camera light,” said Joe Arnao, president of Zylight. “It produces a significantly higher quality of light that is comparable to the output of our larger, world-class lighting instruments. It is a soft but punchy light that complements skin tones, so reporters in the field and the people they interview will look their best.” The Newz is the first lighting instrument available on Zylights new compact ZX platform.
