Welcome ISSUE 98: FEBRUARY 2015 B ig Video Everywhere, could that explain the acronym BVE? With over 150 seminars on offer over three days where you can learn, for free, and get an insight into what 2015 has in store then you could be forgiven for thinking so. BVE have pulled out all the stops once again this year, with the help of over 300 exhibitors, to bring the UK’s largest broadcast and pro video show to life at ExCel London from 24 th -26 th February and we’ll be there in force recording and streaming content for the duration. This issue of KitPlus is acquisition focused and no doubt many of the products inside you’ll be able to get your hands on at the show so do have a fl ick through our news pages, note the stand numbers and plan your day well! Regular readers will know of our association with the ITTP (Institute for Training in Television Production) whose work has been recently commended by HRH Prince of Wales. Their second annual conference took place at Pinewood Studios in January where a packed room of educational leaders met with industry for an engaging day of debate and discussion. Founder member of the ITTP, Bernard Newnham, contributes his thoughts on page 42. Many people in this industry have great ideas; how can I speed this up, how can I stop my back aching, why am I reaching this far…and so on. Not many however take the leap and go on to complete the circle from design to funding to manufacturing; quite a journey for a busy working sound recordist. Not only is this story backed with useful advice for anyone thinking of getting an idea to market but it’s also a really cool device that is out now and on show at BVE for the fi rst time. Check it all out on page 60. The MENA (Middle East and North Africa) market for media and broadcast is projected to be worth more than $2 billion by 2015 with a projected tripling in pay-TV subscriptions with mobile penetration rates amongst the highest in the world, rapidly increasing deployment of satellites, hundreds of Free-to-Air TV channels and investment in locally-produced content. CABSAT of course is hot on the heels of BVE and for those reading in Dubai then please keep an eye out for the increasingly popular ezine version of KitPlus Magazine. Enjoy all the big video everywhere you can over the coming months and do drop by the KitPlus studio at BVE to say hello or simply tune into to see panel shows, kit reviews, interviews and seminar highlights.
