NEWS MANIPULATE & EDIT Cloud editing Forbidden Technologies has redesigned the interface for its cloud video platform Forscene and added Media Asset Management (MAM) functionality. Forbidden Technologies chief executive Stephen Streater said: “2014 is the year we have transformed from an engineering solution to a creative solution. Simplicity is not the mere absence of complexity, it is the mastery of complexity - and we have carried this ethos from Forscene across our new digital presence.” The new Forscene interface has been introduced in an effort to provide a more “effi cient and enjoyable” user experience. The Forscene MAM is said to give users the full potential of the platform from acquisition to publishing “at their fi ngertips.” Other new features include the ability to publish with burnt-in timecode or any other metadata, expanded multicam logging to support up to 18 cameras simultaneously and increased support for different formats that enables functions such as editing MXF fi les during ingest. Mobile editing Studiotech Belgium has designed and launched a fl yaway non-linear editing system. The Studio Mobile NLE is based around Avid’s Media Composer and includes a laptop (HP 17’’ Zbook or similar), Avid Mojo DX data acquisition card, monitoring screen, video patch for I/O connections and a microphone for voice-overs. “The Mobile NLE Studio takes full advantage of the new features of Media Composer and enables faster installation thanks to optimisation of the timeline, easy editing in multicam and full audio and voiceover control,” said Rudolf Mecs, managing director of Studiotech. 16 | KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 97 JANUARY 2015
