Loudness metering Nugen Audio has donated licenses for its VisLM loudness metering plug-in to 41 student television stations in the UK. Each of the stations is a member of the National Student Television Association (NaSTA). Mitchell Perry, NaSTA marketing offi cer, said: “With its generous sponsorship, NUGEN Audio is giving our student a chance to learn about loudness management and how to edit sound according to industry standards.” Quality Analysis Video Clarity’s has updated its RTM real-time audio and video monitoring technology and its ClearView line of video quality analyzers so that they include built- in decoding of Dolby Digital audio in SDI or IP video streams and fi les. Previously, in order to test SDI or IP video streams, RTM and ClearView systems required an additional external decoding device to provide PCM (uncompressed), MPEG, or AAC audio in the stream. Blake Homan, president and founder of Video Clarity, said: “This is a needed capability in practically any quality testing environment, whether it’s for a TV operator or a broadcast processor manufacturer. It’s the latest example of how we are continually and incrementally adding the features and enhancements that our users need.” 24 | KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 96 DECEMBER 2014
