Announcing digital audio bridge A new addition to the NTP Technology Digital Audio Denmark range of mastering-quality audio products, the DX32 is a versatile digital audio bridge and router interface. The DAD DX32 is designed for multiple audio applications such as multi-room recording studios, post-production facilities and audio distribution installations. It allows all digital input and output routing to be managed within a single unit or a combination of units.  With near zero latency, the DX32 can be used to expand I/O channel count and interface digital components, providing a high quality bridge between AES/EBU, MADI, Pro Tools HDX and the Dante IP audio network. At its core, the DX32 is a 384 x 384 router which can patch any input to any one or more outputs on a mono channel basis. It supports sample rates of up to 384 kilohertz and Super Audio CD formats such as Direct Stream Digital. In its interface role, the DX32 provides up to 192 channels on one electrical MADI I/O port and two optical ports, 64 channels on Pro Tools HDX, 16 AES/EBU channels and 64 channels on Ethernet Layer 3 using Dante IP audio technology. Church installs Compact Broadcast Console New York Trinity Church, the historic landmark church at the intersection of Broadway and Wall Street in New York City, recently installed a Solid State Logic C10 HD Compact Broadcast Console to drive the audio for its new production control room. Trinity Church produces about 450 live events in the course of a year including its signature Handel’s Messiah, performed by the Choir of Trinity Wall Street and the Trinity Baroque Orchestra with Julian Wachner conducting. The C10 HD was chosen as the audio console and routing solution for its sterling audio quality, broadcast savvy and music recording capabilities. Broadcasting from BVE A Q Broadcast Limited provided an aQ Production Suite (APS) system to BroadcastShow for use throughout the exhibition to support live production and play-out of the official video channel. The seven-port unit, configured for five camera inputs and two outputs (one to the on-set monitor and the other to the streaming system), provided a range of functionality from a single 3U chassis, including video and audio mixing, caption generation, stills playback, video clip playout (including automatic sequences of pre-recorded material when no live material was being broadcast), routing control and output recording. The APS was teamed with QNews and the Automation Control Centre (ACC) – aQ Broadcast’s newsroom and automation systems respectively – to allow multiple users to work together to prepare and run the shows. The ACC was particularly appropriate for the BroadcastShow live productions, as it simplifies the actions required by the operator in order to switch between live cameras and pre-recorded clips. Katherine Gibson was the Director / Vision Mixer throughout the three days of live production. She had no previous experience of aQ Broadcast systems, but was impressed at how easy they were to use. Kat commented “Working on aQ Broadcast’s Production Suite at BVE was an absolute delight. It was fantastic how simple it was to follow, everything I needed was there and easy to find, and I loved how customisable it was. It made my job at the show a lot easier”. All of the programs and interviews recorded at the show are available at 6 | TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 87 MARCH 2014
