Loudness metering now available on Quantel Q uantel has announced support for NUGEN Audio’s VisLM loudness metering software. NUGEN Audio’s VisLM is available on Quantel’s broadcast editors in the latest V5.2 software. Loudness has become a hot issue over the last few years, with standards bodies around the world introducing mandatory loudness specifications for all broadcast programming. With detailed, objective loudness measurement, history and logging facilities, VisLM provides a comprehensive, ITU, ATSC and EBU standard compliant way to measure, compare and contrast loudness during post-production. The VisLM loudness meter offers both realtime metering and a many times faster than realtime analysis mode. BroadcastShow Live goes virtual I n a recent BroadcastShow live (13th Feb 2013) the studio was transformed into a virtual screen set with the help of a Bristol VFX 3x2 metre corner green screen. The crucial lighting was taken care of by Cirro Lite and switching and virtual set was run from a Tricaster 8000. The hour long show uncovered many virtual set possibilities using a small studio where the news reader (BVE’s James Rowley-Ashwood in this case) was placed in another location on the set. The big “reveal” at the end show just how close he was to the other guests! A new Filmmakers Handbook was also launched on the show and 5 copies given away along with a star prize of a green screen won by Paul Craig from Viewtorch Pictures.
