The Rx2000 modular T&M instrument is the first of a new suite of products announced last year that are now delivering. Paul Nicholls, PHABRIX’s head of sales and marketing commented; ‘The interest in our new modular PHABRIX Rx rackmount products has been outstanding and now with full production in place, demand is literally outstripping production. Our major focus is the release of the second stage of our developments on the PHABRIX Rx platform including the ground breaking rasterizers with full SDI and HDMI layered instrumentation at 1920 x 1080 output. As concerns over investment costs become polarised, the value proposition and the technological innovation these products represent is outstanding.’ PHABRIX will be exhibiting at BVE London in February Stand H46 where DK- Technologies Stand: E15 D K-Technologies’ new DK Meter is designed to meet increasing demands from the market for cost- effective stereo and 5.1 metering, including loudness. This Compact Audio Loudness Meter (CALM) is no bigger than a smart phone and comes in two versions – the DK1, which is ideal for anyone working in stereo, and the DK2, which is specifically aimed at 28 | TV-BAY MAGAZINE the PHABRIX Rx is set to be centre stage. A full suite of modular cards will also be on display from multiple analyser cards, generator cards along with its eye and jitter technology which the company says will set a new benchmark in quality for the industry. The company also continues to develop its hugely popular portable test and measurement solutions with its PHABRIX Sx range. Designed from the ground up as a dedicated solution for hand held operation, the instruments benefit from technologies more akin to mobile phone technology. The units have an amazingly low power usage at only 9W allowing the internal lithium polymer battery to provide 2-3 hours of life before recharge. Its small size at only 92 x 225 x 42mm is truly hand held designed for environments which include fault finding behind engineering racks and OB situations where anything larger would be unsuitable. Each tool has a specific dedicated screen which is clearly presented and designed for fast fault finding ‘on-the- go’. A sophisticated full generator capable of over 47 test patterns including moving zone plate form part of a combined toolset that includes full analysis, logging and monitoring. capable of eye and jitter testing with automated measurements, histograms complete with alignment and timing thermometers. Filtering and a separate jitter measurement screen have made this instrument the ‘must have’ tool for test and measurement in the professional broadcast environment. New across the PHABRIX product range is another world first. A dedicated Dolby closed loop testing solution allowing engineers to both generate Dolby streams and analyse them. One of the unique features of the new option is the ability to change the metadata in the program configuration – a major plus when testing Dolby streams. This also allows an engineer to introduce a measured known Dolby source when fault finding compared to the signal under test. PHABRIX have announced that the new option will be available for release in early January. The hand held PHABRIX SxE continues as the world’s only portable instrument the burgeoning 5.1 surround sound market. The DK Meter is easy to use, easy to install and comes with its own desk-mount. It accepts digital audio inputs and is supplied with all known loudness measurement recommendations, as well as the standard DK-Technologies meter scales. Pricing for this product is highly competitive - just $1295.00 in the US and €995.00 in Europe. Emotion Systems Stand: L18 At BVE 2012 digital workflow experts Emotion Systems will feature eFF (Emotion File Finish) an audio normalisation and loudness compliance tool for media files. eFF is simple, user-friendly software that delivers extremely accurate measurements against predetermined parameters; generates a detailed file error report and repairs files to meet established criteria. Despite complex compliance requirements, eFF resolves loudness problems while remaining highly cost effective.
