Due to be commercially available in Spring 2011, picture stitching uses three co-sited cameras to produce one panoramic image. The image streams from the mounted cameras are stitched together to form one overall picture. From this an operator can create a virtual camera and position this according to the on screen action, allowing broadcasters a view of any point of interest in the scene. The software can also be programmed with additional depth information, for example a football stadium; to artificially create a 3D view of the scene.

Monitoring

Sony PVM-740
Sony have been short of cool products in recent years... yes there’s been nice developments but they’re often more excited about it than they should be. This OLED monitor is worth a look though, it works... Other manufacturers are talking about it, some have tried to launch and some have bigger ones. What Sony have done here is provided a Professional product, nice picture, as near as damn it 180 degree viewing angle, the right size for location and camera mount, with an effective waveform vectorscope built in and the main reason that this brand is always considered by video professionals is that support is one of the best in the industry.
